you can disable polls on phpBB if PNW are that worried about "controlling" free speech

We will not be changing to a free php board.

Those php boards wont support our features like player profiles etc. Our user account system has been, and will be used for other things besides this noticeboard and there are new features which we intend to build on.

We may move to the PokerNews style forum, where we we have full control of what we do with it.

sorry, but phpBB would support a link to player profiles. In anycase, the player DB can still remain untouched.

Sorry to sound paranoid, but whats the real reason your so reluctant?

Dude, the word is Let's, not Lets. Go back and edit it ......

I feel this is a very important thread. Mods should sticky it ......

You shouldn't have started this thread Harley, cos I'm just gonna keep bumping it up. Then again, if it drops off the page, those people that haven't visited for a little while will never know this thread existed.

Compared to every other forum I visit, this one is painful to visit. It would be disgraceful if PNW were to continue indefinitely in its current form.

Imagine automatic hyperlinks in threads, without requiring html tags. Gosh!

Then don't visit? Seriously, what's the problem. Apart from not being able to edit posts, there is nothing wrong with the joint.

makybe, "love it or leave it" isn't very constructive. The some of the problems with the current forum are as follows.....

1)uneditable posts - obvious, but so annoying
2)No index - every little thing gets crammed in the general (except hands) which annoys some people who just want to talk pure poker, while others want to talk about other things with poker players
3)no PM system, your forced to make your contact details public to get in contact with someone outside the board
4)you need to learn HTML to post anything but words

the list could go on.

here we are, trying to help your business and we basically get told "yeah, whatever"

Had to cut and paste that to quote it (italics are mine too).

Apart from ...

I'd say having only one page of threads isn't too user friendly.

I can do colours too.

Actually, I don't think they did, must have missed a post. Guess I can't edit/delete my last entry ......

Be an apt time to swear right now, let the swear filter catch it ......

There must be a solution to tie-in player profiles.

I can live without editing posts

I can live without PM's

I can live without polls.

But an index is almost mandatory. Get an index.

“Propose to an Englishman any principle, or any instrument, however admirable, and you will observe that the whole effort of the English mind is directed to find a difficulty, a defect, or an impossibility in it.
