Battling Lack of Motivation

14 hands.
That's how many hands I played in September.
"You need to get the spark back", is what the numbers are screaming at me from the Hold'em Manager screen. During the middle of the year the fire was burning, I got involved, I played every day. After upswinging for about 20,000 hands, I went break even for another 60,000. Bouncing up and down in a ten buy-in window just isn't a lot of fun.
Between my studies, work and life in general there just hasn't been enough time dedicated to poker. The time I am spending on the gamble is being devoted to improving at sports betting. The interest and study into that is finally starting to come to fruition. My sample size is still horribly small (around 1,000 bets) but it looks like i'm doing something right, or upswinging. Either one.
I've just lost that passion for the game at the moment. I'm hoping to get it back and go on another tear. I have the cash in my roll, I just need the fire in my belly again. One good upswing should do it, but you need to play to upswing. At the moment i'm looking to get back into the serious cash grinding after my latest stretch of assignments is clear. That'll take us into November. In the meantime I will keep betting my arse off in the sports side of things. I'm just enjoying it more than the grinding of poker for my money back.
