APAC WSOP Oh my god oh my god oh my god....

"Let's get it together , we have got to get it together right now..."
The song has foretold the coming of a new age of poker in this our southern land. It's make or break baby! Let's assume Joe Hachem missed the plane and the 2005 wsop was rewritten , the spotlight of poker would never have shone so brightly on us.Now some clown has agreed to a WSOP down under purely on the merit of the Aussie Millions and the fumes left over from Joes publicity fuel tank. So are we ready? Of course we all want bracelet events held on our home turf and a gold bracelet at that ,but I ask again "are we ready?". For example we've all seen the Sydney Harbour new years eve fireworks beamed all over the world giving the impression of a liberal "how ya goin' mate true blue bonza laid back feel of relaxation and non stop drinking and fun in the sun. The people actually in Sydney on the night in question saw a different picture. Lines of men women children and backpackers scrambling to buy the limited tickets available which allowed you entrance to the foreshore of Sydney Harbour where unparalelled views were enjoyed from behind a crowd 100 people deep .What was on offer ? well shiny bang bangs of course and a pop star and floatie thingies and the harbour bridge had shiny things on it too. Now the Melbournians can naively say that's Sydney Melbournes different. For the sake of our national Poker collective I hope our southern cousins are prepared because this just can't be a rehashed Aussie Millions . If there is any hope of keeping the poker spotlight on Australia in a positive light from the time of the Aussie Millions in January to the WSOP APAC in April year in year out it's going to have to be big .Getting it right could mean that rather than all the international players being here for the Aussie Millions then flying out to their various destinations or tournaments and then considering if it is worth their while coming back for the WSOP APAC they can spend three months travelling the Australian circuit ,beefing up Adelaide , Perth Brisbane and even NZ if need be and as an added incentive to staying in the region Macau ,or Asia in general is close enough to be considered an interstate trip. This can be major , now assuming management gets it right what are you prepared to do for the future of our game in the Australasian area.

(Considering organising junkets to enable groups to travel and stay at an affordable rate, whether you're going solo or as a group and would like the logistics organised or just the cosy feeling you get from belonging to a club travel with us,or offer some advice in the comments section .)

well, they(whom-ever makes those sort of descisions) decided that the patronage of the regular Poker player was not to their satisfaction. So they decided to only open the poker room from 6pm in the evening, instead of 12 midday like always. of course no warning was given, so the 10-20 regulars werecaught out, me ONLY playing Sat afternoons, drove 45 min there, and seeing as my circumstances were su h that i have to go by 6 pm, no poker and a general waste of time.Complained in writing, got a response a week or so later, "ok, we have now decided to hear u and will open every day from 2pm instead"

Great u would think, you may even be excused from thinking they actually did give a shit.
Nope, arrived the next Sunday- sorry, only starts tomorrow! Ok, 2nd trip for naught?! but, as a loyal victim, i returned the next Saturday (1.30 pm - to get my name on the list, ) i am #6 on the 2/4, and 13th on 2/5, total over 20 players chomping on the bit to go!
2pm comes, plenty players sitting and mulling around, a dealer AND a "floor supervisor" arrive. ONLY ONE table will open MAYBE another, but NOT before 4pm!!! by now 28 players and enough for 3 tables!!

so ppl not happy, man and the arrogance of the staff? NOT even pretending to give a shit!

When i parked my car today, joked with security who called me a "guest" i said i was a victim, like most of the visitors, now i am sure we are not "guests" and they dont even try to pretend otherwise!
Shame on you Jupiters, Shame on your piss-poor management ability, shame on your lack of respect for your customers! you wiil certainly get what u ask for.

please remember, it costs MUCH less to keep a client than get a new one!

Love a Little Seoul

Last month I made my first-ever trip to South Korea. I've been to a lot of airports over the years and a few have impressed me, but I must say that Incheon Airport blew me away. I was a little reluctant to head to the airport five hours early for my flight, however when I discovered last-minute that many places closed on Monday in Seoul, particularly my destination of choice for my free day - Dungdaemun Market (a collection of 26 malls, housing over 30,000 retail stores, mostly catering to women's fashion. Also known as heaven on earth, and also known as the place I never got to visit), I decided what the heck and joined the rest of the team on the early bus to the airport. I couldn’t be more thankful that I did, as I actually ran out of time after exploring everything this place had to offer! From the endless shopping, to the lounges, to the public toilets, massage and nail salons, Incheon Airport is nothing less than awesome.

Anyhow, the appreciation for Seoul certainly doesn’t stop the airport. Seoul is a fantastic city, and quite a beautiful one too. The APPT was held at the Paradise Casino Walkerhill, which is set on the edge of a riverside mountain, surrounded by trees, opening up to a stunning view of the intense city. I did venture out twice during the week, however it was always on a bus headed downtown, so on our last day, fellow PokerNews-er Donnie Peters and I went for a walk “down the hill” to check out the area that we had been living in for the past six days. We walked in the freezing cold along the eight-lane highway, which every road seemed to be, passing giant building after giant building. Despite being 10km outside of downtown Seoul, a distance that you would usually assume to find yourself in a quiet residential neighborhood, everywhere in sight was still full of skyscrapers. Seoul, and many other big-cities in Asia, is a totally different world to what I'm used to, one where everyone seems to live in the sky.

This was Angel's first time to ever visit Asia, and my only other city of comparison from personal experience was Macau... which really is a world of its own. So despite the minimal expectations that we had, we were amazed within the first 30 minutes of touching down. Koreans are not only technological geniuses as one would expect, but their warm and gentle natures really make you feel welcome.

At the airport we stopped by a stand that was renting out portable WIFI routers and found the Olleh Egg. This was one of the best finds of the trip, allowing for seven devices to connect at the bargain price of around $8 USD per day. For the first-time ever I was able to tweet to my heart’s content while touring around the city.

The city tour began on the subway. If you thought London’s Tube was intense, you’re in for a shock when you see the underground system Seoul has got going on. Not only was it ginormous, it was outstandingly efficient. Just like the city bus tour that we took – not once was anything ever late. Everything here works on time, to the exact minute. The city bus tour offered over 30 stops at landmarks throughout the city. With just one afternoon to play, we had to limit our choices. We started at the moving Korean War Memorial where the struggles of the divided country were evident, along with so much hope of reconciliation.

Next was the romantic N Seoul Tower. The tower is positioned on top of Namsan Mountain, a huge mountain in central Seoul. At first, it just looks like any other city tower that has an observation desk, but once you reach the top of the hill, and the base of the tower, you’re faced with nothing but love. Hundreds of thousands of couples have declared their everlasting love here, by securing padlocks, together with love notes, to the fences surrounding the tower.

We then went to the quaint, preserved town known as Bukchon Village, for a taste of the true local culture. We sat in a tea house where I had the most amazing Pumpkin Rice Punch tea. You can see all of these stops, plus more, in the following video:

http://c.brightcove.com/services/viewer/federated_f9?isVid=1

Our second night was spent at Ark Lounge in downtown Seoul for the PokerStars player party. Every table had it’s own VIP bottle service with Absolut Vodka flowing freely. As you could imagine it didn’t take long to get the dancefloor started, which was then overtaken by some serious breakdancing. Check it out:

http://c.brightcove.com/services/viewer/federated_f9?isVid=1

Our second last night in Seoul was quite a long one, with Day 2 of the APPT Main Event not finishing until after 1am. On dinner break only around 30 players were left in the Main Event, and one of them was Angel’s friend from Panama,Jose Severino. So a few of us whisked Jose away for some Korean BBQ on dinner break to Myongwolgwan, a restaurant next door to the casino. It felt like a sauna inside the restaurant with all of the tables each having stoves built into them, but once we adjusted to the heat, we then indulged in one of the best meals I think I’ve ever had. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to splurge on some of the finest Korean BBQ in the country with one of the best views over the city.

Here I am putting in the minutes month after month, well maybe not every month but still I do put in a bit of sweat, well maybe not sweat but I am providing a service that is antricipated by all , well maybe not a service and seeing that no-one seems to comment one way or the other maybe I'm the only subscriber waiting for the next instalment. Maybe it actually is blog after blog of nonsense and misinformation ,nah that's impossible I am awesome so my writing must be above and beyond the norm. To prove it once and for all I'll be conducting a question answer and reaction poll .Previously uploaded blogs will be linked below , if you guys find the time in between pots either like , abuse or ask the noise to stop ,and then my detractors will see "ha ha ha " I will be vindicated as "Manila re blogger or Mr awseome the guy who writes those sparse categorically wrong badly punctuated mis splelt blogs that are labelled as poker commentary without any useful poker talk in sight. That actually sounds pretty bad I think I just proved I am basically delusional. The aforementioned poll still stands let the masses have their say*. Basically all comments are welcome both praise and awe all others shall be ignored in order to keep the statistics in order so no need to vote if not a positive thinker i.e just because you're jealous farmboy or whatever you call your page doesn't mean you need to bash me.

Vote or comment or whatever if not for POKERNETWORK just for manila re and his general curiousity, and who knows maybe more of this content can be spewed your way.

*masses may not be listened to,any promise of further blog entries may not eventuate,Mr awesome and Manila re are one and the same either one has not yet decided on a costume and whether or not a cape will be a part of the ensemble.

It's been a busy month! With the Aussie Millions finally over, here's a quick run down on the Life's Goodness that's been going on with some great Aussie adventures

Anyone from Australia will recognise the title of this blog and most likely link it to the great Aussie icon, Russell Coight. I had the pleasure of meeting the man behind the character, Glenn Robbins, during the Joe Hachem & Shane Warne Celebrity Poker Challenge which kicked off the 2012 Aussie Millions. This man is hilarious!!

I was so excited to be hosting the Aussie Millions television production this year, which was an awesome experience and certainly kept me busy! So Miss Nicki Pickering, the fellow Melbournian, took over for most of the PokerNews videos and did a kick ass job.

Crown Casino, the home of the Aussie Millions is by far one of the best casino's in the world. It's as big as what you would find in Las Vegas, if not bigger than most. Three hotels, a poker room with over 70 tables, and some of the world's best restaurants. Here's a quick little tour to see what all the fuss is about and some of the many reasons why you need to come to Melbourne next January!

Our working days during the Aussie Millions are pretty intense, working all day and night, everyday, so I've never had a chance to actually play in an event. Until this year. I was spontaneously given a day off from filming so I jumped at the chance to register into the $550 NLH Terminator. Knockouts are my fav format to play online so I was eager to play this event, having a $100 bounty on everyone's head. Around 240 players registered and unfortunately I bust in 35th place, so close to the money, but I did collect $400 cash in bounties! My boyfriend, Angel, was playing in the Main Event at the time so I took my $400 to a $2/$3 table. Although, that wasn't the best idea, donking it off in under and hour.

Another early night finish ended up with Nicki and I joining Maria Ho and Tiffany Michelle for a spontaneous wind-back to being 16 years old again at the Reece Mastin concert at The Palms at Crown. We were by far the oldest people there, apart from the supervising mothers, and were feeling extremely out of place when the bar shut at 10pm. Although, I have to say he was such an awesome performer, amazing voice and he absolutely owned that stage while driving the squealing 15 year old girls crazy ripping his shirt off. I felt like it was slightly illegal for us to be there when the shirt was off though.

Once the Aussie Millions finally came to a wrap, I was exhausted. After a couple of days of crashing in complete un-showered laziness, the tourism began for Angel's first-ever time to visit Australia! The first destination was of course the Phillip Island Wild Life Park where we could feed the free-roaming kangaroos and wallabies and get up close to the sleepy koala's and wombats. It was such an incredible experience, I can't believe I had never been there before!

There was no way I was giving up this pot or that pot ,who says 3c4d has no right being in the pot on a board of AcKhKs3d4h? Have I got the wisdom to let go of two pair even when I feel like I might be good or that villain is bluffing trying to get me off a weak K. Well of course I do have the wisdom but I don't need to prove it because I'm good...and then the reasoning kicks in ,I am only playing 2c/5c stakes so all in is only costing me $3 per hand so why not call ?Along with the financial justification comes the value of probability that I worked out . Once in a while I'll have a hand and my opponents will come allong assuming I once again don't have it and this is where I win their stack or at least double up what's left of mine. Theoretically hand tracking stats of around 24/16 is a suitable example of a winning player so take note of what I am about to tell you , an as yet unreleased strategy .What would you assume about a player that plays with stats of 65/34 ? You'd challenge him or her and only play premium hands against them right ? But you see that is the beauty of the system complete and utter confusion perpetuated hand after hand session after session. Now I have been told that I need to include a warning with this information, be prepared to get chat box abused ,forum abused and just basically ridiculed while you build up your portfolio of deception but believe me it is prrobably all worth it because one day you may or may not go on a burner and win three to four big hands in a row and then we'll see who the donking idiot is.

The past couple of weeks have been fun-filled being summertime here in Australia. Christmas has come and gone, and so has 2011. I had a brilliant year and I'm even more excited about what 2012 will bring. Although, I couldn't help but notice the amount of people that were happy to see the back of 2011. It seemed to be quite a heavy year for many... I hope that you weren't one of them and can focus on the good that came out of your year that's past!
One of the many reasons I feel so blessed in life is my incredible group of girlfriends. Every Christmas it's tradition that we all get together for a special dinner either on Christmas Eve or a day or two beforehand. This year we had it at one of the girl's houses on her rooftop balcony in Port Melbourne, right by the beach with a stunning view of the city. The weather was perfect and the company was even better, the feast was amazing and the punch was flowing a little too easily! The ideal ingredients for a great night

Christmas Day is then spent with my beautiful family. It's just a small one as I was born in Ireland, so all of my extended family is over there! Although in recent years the family has almost doubled thanks to my brother "planting his seed"!! Another special reason that I love Christmas Day is because it's my boyfriend's birthday! He's a Christmas Angel The sucky part was that we were over 8,000 miles apart! I had no idea that the Australian government were so strict with issuing visas to Latin Americans. We've been waiting over four months for Angel's visa to get approved and he FINALLY received it today!! What a build up! So he will make it here in time for Aussie Millions! Whoohooo! His absence didn't stop my family celebrating his birthday Down Under though

NYE was during a scorcher of a weekend with a quiet BBQ on the same balcony as the Girl's Christmas Dinner where we had the best view of the midnight fireworks! I've never seen Melbourne look so stunning as it did when the fireworks were going. Check it out in the following video, although it's nothing like the real thing! Happy New Year!!!
