Its been awhile since my last blog so i thought id do a bit of an update and share some thoughts.
Since my last blog ive played ANZPT Sydney, APPT Macau, WSOP Main Event, Melb Champs, ANZPT Canberra, State of Origin, ANZPT Melb, Western Classic and ANZPT Darwin for a grand total of 0 cashes. When you add ANZPT Adel and Perth from the first part of the year, you start to get a pretty clear picture of the kind of year ive had on the circut.
Im really dissappointed with my live game and ive spent countless hours going over hands in my head and thinking about what i couldve done different, and in the end i think it comes from me not giving players enough respect, and not having enough patience in the early stages of live tournament play.
I remember when i first started playing live down at Burswood, my whole game was based around trying to not look like an idiot. Good, solid ABC poker with no thought to meta game analysis, oods and ratios, hand equities, etc, etc. And i had some good results. Then i started playing HSMTTs with moderate success and now think i should be crushing liveaments because everyone says how much easier they are. I mean, i play online with the best players in the world on a semi-regular basis and hold my own, so surely these live donks will just pass their chips on to me and tell their friends they got beat by the 484th ranked player in the world. Right? Please. Doesnt quite work that way. Damn it.
Anyways online has been going ok this year and i had one of my best weeks in the middle of Oct where i raked in around 60k in about 5 days. Its funny cos i stopped playing full time after Vegas, and went back to work on the mines. I had organized to have 10 days off in order to play ANZPT Darwin and the Western Classic, and i had really geared myself up to play well. Its funny how if you mentally prepare yourself to do something, you just do it. I played really well during that time, and online everything just came together. I won the Turbo Hundo for 5k, the stars $109+r for 18k, and came 3rd in the $55+r, $109+r and $109c Turbo for 7k, 5k and 23k. What a week!
I also thought i played well in the liveaments, busting out of the Classic with 99 vs AsJs on a 9s2s6s board and Darwin holding J9 vs Jc8c on a Qc10c8s board. %&^$#
Next on the horizon is APPT Sydney where i hope i can put up a good showing. Ive booked a 3 bedroom apartment at the top of the World Tower and flying my mum and dad in along with my wife and kids to have a mini holiday. I even organized a limo to pick us up from the airport as my kids have always wanted to go in one. lol. Life of the pretend rich and famous.
Hope to have some good things to report in my next blog.
