Not sure what else you could have done, you would have been kicking yourself for days if you had folded. It is a crazy game where the key to winning is sitting around for hours, using all your skill and experience to steal blinds and small pots while patiently waiting for a decent hand and then when you get one you are expected to put the fruits of your hard work on the line for something no better than the flick of a coin.
I still cannot get my head around that to be honest, the two different skills you need to win a poker tournament are so opposite from each other.
I don't think you really had a lot of choice.
