Default Re: The 2010 Newcastle Poker Championships - 12-21 March 2010

Hey guys,

As u can imagine, 3 days out from the Championships it's pretty hectic up here, so I apologise for not replying quicker.

CannonBall Event

In a Cannon Ball event, players start with a T2,000 Starting Stack. The first blind level is 5 minutes, the second level is 6 minutes, and so on. In a nutshell, the structure is Turbo at the start, relaxing as the event goes on.
As this is on the night before the Main Event, we wanted a nice quick game so that players will be in bed nice and early before the Main Event (we made a mistake last year by putting the Teams Event on the night before the Main, the event ran longer than expected and we lost players in the Main as a result...)

Player of the Championships
“Player of the Championship” Points will be awarded to the top 16 players in all numbered events with the following exceptions:

- Event 3 (Heads Up Championship) will only award points to the top 8
- Event 6 (Mixed Games Teams Event) will award half points to players from the top 8 teams
- Event 10 (Main Event) will award 5 bonus points to the top 4 players

Points are awarded as folows:
1st - 20 pts
2nd - 17 pts
3rd - 14 pts
4th - 12 pts
5th - 10 pts
6th - 9 pts
7th - 8 pts
8th - 7 pts
9th - 6 pts
10th -5 pts
11th - 16th - 1 pt

Past Champions:
2008 Player of the Year - Daniel Orr (32pts) Runner Up - Ken Curry (29 pts)

2009 Player of the Year - Matthew Wakeman (49 pts)
Runner Up - Ryan Morris (40pts)

As I will be in and out of the office over the next few days, I will keep an eye on this thread as much as possible, but feel free to email me at martin.iphone@aussieholdempoker.com.au with any questions and i'll be able to answer right away.
