DefaultAussie Millions $2m Guarantee

Is the main event 1st place $2m guarantee still on?

I think it's poor that (because there seems to be some missguided belief that a $2m guarantee is good for the Aussie Millions) almost every player who cashes gets a lesser payout than they probably should.

Play poker for 3 days and min cash for $15k in a $10,600 event to make $4,400 profit?

Does Crown feel that removing this guarantee is some sort of admission that the event is not getting the numbers they hoped for?

At what point will crown give up on this? I'm hoping this year.

Past winners, payouts and # players:

2008 Champion

I don't see anything on their website about a $2m guarantee?

It's been in place the last couple of years. Hoping they have come to their senses and abandoned the idea.

with so many satellite winners, a $15k payday after ANY tournament is excellent

Curious what % actually plonk down the 10.5k from their pocket.

I'm 95% sure there was no guarantee last year

I thought the guarantee was only in place for 1 year (2009). That was bad enough.

Entries dropped off almost 13% yet 1st place won 21% more than the previous year. Ridonkulous.

I have previously asked this question and Christian said the percentage who front up with cash for the ME is typically 25-30%. Personally I thought it would be less. This is also probably a LOWER figure than reality because there are plenty of people who sell seats when they win more than 1 and I imagine this is not inculed in that 25-30% but I may be wrong.

OK, then 27% is just too much for first in an event with 746 runners.

2010 - 26.8%; 2009 - 29.4%; 2008 - 21.2%; 2007 - 20.1%; 2006 - 31.1%; 2005 - 38.0%

Tyron did well, as did Jamil Dia (2005). Gus got stiffed.

Jonno P said on the PokerNews podcast that last year 33% of the feild entered via online satellites.
Probably somewhere between 20-35% direct buy in?

Not really sure how many satellites crown ran or how many seats they gave away, but i figured it would be around the same
