Default Early to Mid stages of an MTT

Guys I am after everyone's opinions on how they think the best way to chip up in the early to mid game is.

From everything I have learn from playing too many SnG's was to play tight at the start and then loosen up around the mid.. but I have found this does not really work too well in MTT's and before long your in shove/fold situations that you dont want to be in. So lately ive been playing a bit looser and more aggressive and it has been paying off, but I find around the mid stage my chip stack just dwindles down to below average and im in shove/fold territory again.

Anyway as I said and you cashing machines! whats your opinion?

Play how your playing, early tag, middle lag/tag-pick your spots where to apply pressure on other players.

Pray on the short stacks dont or try and avoid getting tangled up with the big stacks.
