    Default 3 bet size

I'm looking for some advice on 3 bet sizing when others have entered the pot

    For example

If you are playing 50/100, 2 people limp, then it is standard to open 2.5 - 3x + 1bb for each limper ie 450/500

If some one raises to 300, 1 caller, what is the best 3bet size? 2.5 x + 300 for the caller (1050) or just to 3x it (900)?

What's your 3betting range? Are you looking to extract value or take down the pot pre?

Also I am talking about being deep stacked, so at least 50BB+

Do you really change your pre flop bet size according to your hand?

    1. 50bb+ is short stacked - 100bb is normal although i still wouldnt call this deep, and i would say 200+ or 250bb+ is deepstacked.

my 3 bets are generally in three categories.

    min 3 bet
    2x re-raise
    shove.

i will vary from this depending on the game, player and what i am trying to achieve.

what you need to look for is more the players in the hand and what is going to work to get the action you want them to take and confuse them the most about what you actually hold. Mostly that comes from watching them at the table, or stats via a HUD or some combintion of both.

I never play deepstacked truly as i buy in for 100bb and then when I get to 200bb I generally will bank the profit and move.

some people hate this given that your winning on the table others like it cause it banks and returns you to a smaller amount on your tables and reduces your longer term risk for a small reduction of potential given your crushing a table.

I am generally risk adverse so I run the second argument for it.

    hope that helps.

MTTs I tend to do the same. Although I am not 3/4 betting as many hands that is all.

If the blinds are 50 /100
    1 person raises to 300
    1 person calls

    i want to raise

    is it better to raise 2.5 - 3x( 750 -900) or 2.5x + the 300 for the caller,
    (ie 1050) ?

    50bb isn't even close to short-stacked in a tournament.
