Ive played quite a few hands over quite a few years and have never played at a table where the standard raise was 2.5 x . From the button, yes but not elsewhere.

In MTT's I prefer the approach of larger PFR's (3-3.5x) early, shaving to say (2.5-2.75x) mid stages, then (2-2.5x) late game.
You'll be getting flatted a ton more early game (hence the larger raises).
As the blinds get higher flatting becomes less attractive for most so you will either pick up the blinds cheaper or save yourself chips as most (half knowledgeable) will be either folding or 3 betting you pre.
You would be surprised how many chips you save by shaving your bets..esp late game
I aint to bright though, this is just my opinion

it does seem to be a clear strategy now, the WSOP ME seem to display this sort of approach in the mid to late stages alot.
I should give it a try, although to do it i guess you have to make the mid to late stages right....lol
