    Default What constitutes a call?

Live game, heads up stage of small tournament. SB makes standard raise and BB re-raises. SB says to himself (but out loud) "I have to call here". After a pause, SB pushes all in (80K chips where a call would have been only 40K).

BB says "But you called - you can only bet 40K".

My question is does the SB comment "I have to call here" constitute a call?

    Thanks for your answers.

P.S. It was settled amicably with an agreement pre-flop by the BB to accept the All-in but I do wonder what the outcome would have been on a more serious table.

    This is true.

I was in this exact position at the FT 500 some months back, it was then ruled not a call.
