    Default A Donkey Move

    Hello all,

    I have a question for you all.

    If you have a 10k starting stack and its a good amount in and you still have around 10k and your big blind for 100. You have 23 suited diamonds and its goes around and a guy raises it to 500. If you call that, Is that considered a donkey move???? Please tell me what you think.

    Thanks.

    I don't think its a donkey move due to the large amount of chips i have and the small size of the raise. Also my position. The was lots of action and 400 out of my 10000 to see a flop. Turns out i hit a flush on the flop therefore I'm a donkey according to the guy that raised it on A8.

    I don't really know thats why I'm asking you guys..

    Thanks

    Board:
    Equity Win Tie
    MP2 61.59% 61.34% 0.25% { Ac8s }
    CO 38.41% 38.15% 0.25% { 3d2d }

    so pre the villain was some 20% ahead. Even more so if either the A or 8 were diamonds. Re-raise a limper to 3x if they have an active vpip/pfr. else fold.

    Calling a 5x raise with small suited's is not profitable in the long run. Is it worth being called a donkey? learn to live with that, you will get that no matter what.

    if your gonna stove it you have to give the other guy some meaningful range of hands as A8 is probably at the bottom of his range for a 5x raise from mid position (at least you would hope so anyway).

    I dont have stove at work of course but i would suggest that he could have done that with A8os+, 22+, K10+, Q10+, J10+, all suited As. of course he could be way looser than this as well.... but would need to rely on OP for info.

    stack it up against that range in stove as I would be interested to see if it drops and by how much.

    cheers

    Yes I agree, did so at first then changed it to specific. So

    Equity Win Tie
    MP2 69.79% 69.29% 0.50% 22+, A2s+, KTs+, QTs+, JTs, A8o+
    CO 30.21% 29.71% 0.50% 3d2d

    Interesting, never notice the tie % improving on a range.

    Also a little looser
    Equity Win Tie
    MP2 67.12% 66.66% 0.47% 22+, A2s+, K6s+, Q9s+, JTs, A2o+, K8o+, QTo+
    CO 32.88% 32.41% 0.47% 3d2d

    So as you can see Bobby, PokerStove or Equilab is your friend. And free.
