Is Pokertracker software a necessity for casual players??
If you are playing NLHE I'd say get it. It's worth it just for the sklansky thingo. Pretty graphs, and comparion to depressing reality, gives real credence to your gripes about running bad. "Zomg, I ran $400 under skalnsky $$ today" is just more convincing than the boring old "I run so bad you have no idea". I thought yoyo was a total donkey who just got lucky until he posted his Sklansky graph, then I realised it was the other way around. In seriousness, anything that improves how you play is worthwhile. You will be playing off and on for the rest of your natural life. No investment - neither time nor money - in any form of training or self-game-analysis (which pokertracker is PRIMARILY good for) is wrong. You will make the money back. PT at worst gives you a very unbiased view of how YOU play, of YOUR leaks, and what YOU can improve on. *Posting while drunk. I shall endeavor not to reread this at a later date and edit out any spasticitiy.
