    Default Push or Not

Just played this hand on Full Tilt and not sure whether my push pre-flop was optimal.

My thoughts at the time were with a raise and a re-raise out there, one of them had to have a decent pair, probably at least QQ and I would be just as happy to take it down there and then as take a risk on being outdrawn.

You can see he said he had JJ, I assume the initial raiser had a big Ace.

    Any thoughts?

Seems pretty stock standard to me - more than happy to take what's already in the pot. Surprised the player who already stuck in 25% of their stack didn't call fwiw.

If you're ever gunna flat AA pre, this is the spot.

That's not to say I would do it, I may... I think if stacks were a little bigger I definitely would.

How could they fold jacks!??! He had a pair in his hand before there were even any cards shown-omfg.

Seriously though, you got some good equity out of it, no harm done.

    Thanks for the replies.

I was interested if anyone had any compelling reasons for the slow play.

I just couldn't find any at the time. If anybody called all-in then outdrew me then bad luck but I wasn't happy with the idea of letting them outdraw me for free.

As Gtrain24 said 'it seems stock standard' and probably is, but always interesting to look at other ways of playing a hand.

there are reasons for it, but they are not compelling imo at these stack sizes...

I think stacks mebbe 33-50% bigger i could find arguments to call more than fold.

You are right to question this play though imo. hopefully you went pretty deep in this tourney irrespective of this hand.

i'm assuming FalkTron had been making the standard raises a few hands earlier?

Its a horrible play, but you were off to the races if you reraised it anything less then 18k, and even a min-bet may have induced falktron to come along.

    lucrative but risky.

I'd also like to know how far into the game we are, as well as the stakes..

Sorry for not answering immediately but I've been away for a few days and just got back.

From memory I went on a bit of a burst at about this time and got up to 2nd place at one stage and remained in the top 10 for quite a while but then went a bit card dead and ended up only in about 25th position.

This has happened a few times lately where I get into a good position but am struggling to bring it home.

    Could be a skill problem.

Dean Banana, I think that even if I only raised to 18k FalkorTron is folding here. He's put in a standard raise to 2400, someone has substantially reraised to 7,400 suggesting he can beat AK suited or not and then a 3rd raiser over the top which suggests at least KK and more likely AA. At least that would be my thinking if I was in his position.

I'm fairly sure that was how brianna24 saw it too which is why he stated he was laying down a decent but not top pair with JJ.

no push here, they already have too much information on what you have... far too obvious....

    flat call,

IF, he has JJ there are 9 cards that will scare him......4q,4k and assume 1 ace (first player opening with strong ace)

which means 75% is under cards will come,

its risky, but ideally flop comes 8 high..... flat call his flop bet, or check behind, and he will then not no what day of week it is by the time it gets to rive his assumption is AKsuited... probably 90% of the time the betting would go that way....

    word.
