    Default Shove or Raise

yesterday whilst on the $20 re buy final table "brag" on PokerStars I was in small blind with 30bbs. A few of the guys were in the room and this hand started a long debate. I was dealt pocket 5s. I elected to raise into a 50 bb stack. It was 6 handed. The argument was that I should shove because if I get flatted and the flop comes K83 what to do.
    What do you guys think.
I personally don't like the shove.

    Open shoving 30bb is terrible.

Pretty sure kleath of all people is gonna see your open jam for exactly what it is and respond accordingly.

limp/jam or raise/call sound good to me. I would tend to limp/jam as I think he is gonna raise a pretty wide range when you limp.

Not a big fan of jamming but it can't be that bad - Risk why do you think it's awful?

I think it was a little more like this... I think what is more interesting in this hand is playing a small pair optimally when oop vs a good reg with a medium stack. Open shoving here almost turns our hand into a bluff as risk said kleath is obv good at handing reading and therefore will be able to adjust his range accordingly. Effectively he never calls worse, such as A4 or 22. If you dont feel comfortable playing flops oop you may as well fold. I know it hasn't been mentioned in this thread yet. But a lot of guys liked the limp shove option which I think would also work well, as he will be isoing wide and if he does check you can just bet or check/fold crappy flops.

I would also limp/jam most the time in this spot.

Because with a 30bb stack there are more profitable ways to play the hand, as you've highlighted.

If he calls off 99+/AQ+ we win 2bb from a cEV perspective.

If he's being aggro we can raise/call, raise/4bet, limp/jam and probably win even more.

Prob just raise calling vs villain, although I know you run super nitty stats usually.

    Jamming is super bad
