Okay, just finished a freeroll with two addons before break and two addons at the break for $5 each. It tends to draw a larger crowd for this reason. With this comes a lot of wannabe gurus that play loose and chase aces, but tend to hit the damn things on the turn or river. They therefore chip up and carry on with this play due to their luck Can someone please give me some advice on how to beat ace chasers. Here is a hand that particularly annoyed me.
Second hand into game with stacks of 3,000. I'm second to act with Q-10os and limp into the pot with 50 and so do 5 others. Flop comes Q-K-5 rainbow and it is checked to me so I raise to 200. All others fold exept the player in last position with A-7os who calls casually. Turn brings a 3 so I bet out with 200 which is called again. River comes as an Ace and I bet another 200 which is only called.
I obviously lose the hand and the guy starts talking about how his ace was always ahead of my Q-10os even though I had hit my queen on the flop and he had nothing. This guy goes on to dominate for the next 90 minutes and was still looking strong when I was eventually knocked out by another river rat with a stack.
What I really want to know is whether that bastard was right. I understand bad luck and all, but he was playing what I would call poor hands most of the night and kept raking in the pots. What am I missing here? I've ran a few hands through pokerstove, including the one mentioned above, and my interpretations are matched by that programme, but here I am knocked down and out by chasers.
