Default Am I getting any better?

Here is a hand history for a 45 player $1 SnG I am playing right now, at least until I double up again or get busted out. I've been applying what I've learnt so far and saw some good results to have me with a decent stack and a good shot at hitting the money when this happens. Did I stuff up somewhere?

If he showed you his cards would you want him to call or fold?

At 100/200 on those limits, players panic playing the short stack. Read up on those articles.

Until half the players in a tourney are busted out expect raw players who will chase down their hands or bluff at the wrong time. At these limits, although a good game IMO expect this because the majority are waiting for high pockets or AK to play a hand, not at all concerned with position & calculating pot odds on their out cards.

So the blind levels hit 100/200, everyone is starting to panic as the tourney still probably has about 20 players still in, averaging 15BB'. The next blinds are 150/300, maybe with antes kicking in.

Grow your range of starting hands in relation to blind level, how many players are at the table, your position, other players position on their calls & raises, what range of starting hands you have seen other players play in relation to their position, who is aggressive? What is your table image? The size of your chip stack to BB', the average chip stack, your opponents chip stacks. I probably missed something, but you have to work your table image & use other players images against them, I find sometimes mirroring a player especially in heads up confuses the other player to tilt, as how can they play against their own style coming back at them?

Yeah, the blinds had only just gone up and I had been betting 3xBB pre-flop when I had playable hands and then betting the pot after the flop. So I continued with a pot sized bet even though it was 800 whereas my previous pot sized bets had only been around 450-500 at best. It was also the first time I had gone all-in during the game. Not sure why I did it now because the pot would have only been 2400.

Would this hand have been played better with a 50% pot sized bet after the flop and then something simliar at the turn perhaps?

Maybe try a minimum bet. Betting from an early position after the flop is tiresome, you did what I normally do by betting big to scare others off their hand, it just makes them angry & hungry & then you suck out.

There was no pre-flop action, so keep to minimum value bets when the draws are out there when the average chip stacks are 20 BB' & under. Players realise there is no value with a heads up pot & relinquish the hand, they stop the chase. Rear em up and you will get action, nice when you have a deep stack & everyone else is short stacked.

It's boring to me limit Texas hold' em, try it, and get a feel for that play.

Try Omaha, the draws are fun to analyse and play.

You seem like a good player as any, for B&M games IMO Dr. Paul Ekman' micro expresssion training is fun. Then there are the language lying tapes, all good as well. Poker is fun.

NO. Forget everything you think you know about poker

When you know you have the best hand (or at least will the majority of the time) bet the biggest you think might get called. Against thinking opponents your bet sizing has to be consistent across certain spots, but with strong hands like this you will ALLWAYS be trying to play the absolute biggest pot you can.

personally would have bet about 525 on flop, 1000-1400ish on turn (depends how inclined we think he is to peel off a card here) and probably shove river for value (if we think he wont fold). I doubt he calls with just a jack too often but he might and theres definitely lots of 2-pair combos that will snap.
