Default Was I right to fold

This was in the money a 27 player sng, Ep raiser was loose and very short and 3 players behind me very tight. I just called his raise as I was ahead of most of his range. when the button pushes I know I'm crushed "because my play looked strong" but pot odds say a should call. but if I fold I'm left with a workable stack.

I'm folding pre. Looks like you're getting about 7:1 odds to call, so I think you have to call it off.

    +1

Your preflop call is terrible, if you followed that mistake up with a fold I'd go ahead and assume every decision you make that you think is correct is actually wrong.

hrm pretty sure this is an ICM fold pre (whether you're ahead of his range is less relevant than whether your $ expectation in the SNG improves sufficiently to offset the reduced expectation from having a shorter stack when you lose the hand, do some research on ICM).

As played you can't really fold ever.

Any good tools for calculating if something is an icm fold or not? (have a general understanding of how icm works regards equity in the tournament etc) but as far as calculating if something is an icm fold dont know how to do that.

eg. (hand from $550 turbo, 15 starters top 3 get paid 50/30/20)

    4 handed 1200/2400/300

Hero on button with ~20k (other 3 players are more or less even stacked with 35-40k)

    UTG Folds
    Hero shoves K3cc for 20k
    SB Calls with 66
    BB Folds

I assume both blinds should be calling pretty narrow even if they somehow knew i was atc. To calculate a correct calling range for the blinds i'd need to find a range that has enough equity against the buttons range to increase our equity in the tournament enough when we win to overcome the equity we lose when we don't win the hand????

    Did i get that right??

    Any shortcuts??

ICM Shortcut: calling sucks, fold equity is king.
