    Default Bet or don't bet?

    This is the set up.....

You are in a tournament and everyone is in the money.

The short stack shoves all in with less than 25% of your stack you have K T off... You call ....

only one other player at the table calls and it cost him over half of his stack.....

Now from this point until the river what do you do ?

Lets say that the best you do is pair your T for middle pair .... there is a Q on the board and the rest are random cards ....

There is NO side pot to win ... if you bet you may cause the other guy to fold and he may have the cards to beat the allin......... do you ever bet at all or do you just check it down and have 2 hands to knock out a player and insure a higher payout for both of you ???

I think it is wrong if the two players discuss it and agree to check it down but I believe the smart thing to do is for both players with chips to simply check...

If you bet all you are going to do is get called by a hand that has you beat already or you may cause a drawing hand to fold that could have beat the allin when your hand cant....

So what do you say ? Is that soft play and colusion... ? .... or is it smart play.....

Checking it down, smart unless your sure that you have the nuts and can milk more. 2 against 1 has more chance of removing the 1 than heads up.

Verbally discussing a hand in play is disallowed in nearly all games.

What is the money jump, tournaments are a game of elimination, teaming with other players to eliminate an opponent has been undiscussed norm, but if you have the nuts betting is normally acceptable, knowing that it will result in a player elimination anyway. However, I now find a lot of players will take advantage of this and bet or push having no side pot with weaker hands knowing that the other player will fold thinking they are very strong. I believe it’s a mistake by them as it is a game of elimination and cooperation sees the remaining players benefit. What will I do in the future, check the nuts on the flop and call the shove.
