Default OPT Main Event reduces guaranteed prizepool to 18k

http://www.pokerdome.com.au/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=365&Item id=52This is a joke. They gonna be taking 2000 out of the prizepool each week to put into some stupid end of season final. This seaon they had the 20k guarantee each week plus they had a player of the season prizes. So some genius there has come up with a way to fuck up a good working system and turn it into shit. Lets keep the buyin at 200 and reduce the prizepool to 18000... why would u want to tamper with something which was working fine? u have been getting more than enough runners to easily cover the guarantee plus make a tidy profit from the 10% rake. Constantly trying to get 2 fancy with big ideas and boasts. Like constantly each week telling us about the televised final table. We been hearing about this from day 1... its a pipe dream. All yur silly points systems and fancy structures are ghey. Just give us a good value tournament where the money is returned as prizepool to the players on the night... there is no need to overthink it and complicate it. I guarantee if u bothered 2 ask the players what they want they will tell u the same thing!

here here. Have only played one of these things, and the people i know who play it more regularly tell me its decent. For those like me that cant or wont get there each week, and dont want to commit to some final, taking money out of the prize pool each week is sure to make me stay away. This is a shame, as winter approaches golfing weekends may not be an option, so it would be nice to have a good staple tourney available.

It's the most realistic way of funding something like this. I personallythink that the $200 weekly game is big enough in itself and doesn'tneed to be combined with a league format. But a league formatshould get players playing the Main Event regularly and havea pot of gold in a season final, so from that point of viewit could be a real winner for PokerDome.

...but as Andre points out, if you only want to play the one eventand there's money deducted for the league final you feel shortchanged.I get pretty tilted when just $5 of a sit n go win goes towards a ticketto the Saturday PokerDome main event, if I'm not planning onplaying it that week.Jade tried withdrawing money from prize pools for entries intobigger games, but would offer the cash to the winner if he asked.Invariably the winner asked for the cash and it was hard toget the numbers into the bigger event.

Yeh, it always pisses me off that they force u to take those stupid tickets instead of cash if u place in a tourney or a sit n go. IMO it should be up to the players, they are the 1s who have paid an entry fee and they should be able to choose if they want 5$ of that deducted for a ticket that they might not even have a chance 2 use...At the end of the day if we want to play a league with a points structure and qualification procedures we have the APL we can turn to *shudders* I hate to see the pokerdome try to get 2 fancy and overcomplicate what was a really good tournament 2 begin with. Its even more confusing when just a day ago they post this on the official site suggesting that if anything the guarantee will be soaring higher (something which they have eluded to on their site many times in the past) "Oz Poker Tour is proud to announce the launch season 3 of the weekly Main Event. Again, this revolutionary poker tournament will commence with Australia’s largest weekly guaranteed prize pool of $20,000, and is set to soar upon the commencement of the televised events! We have already seen this prize pool exceed $31,000 in Season 2"Im sure every player was expecting it to go up or at least stay the same. Then the very next day they make an announcement that the guaranteed weekly prizepool will now be down to 18k. Like WTF... Of course they try to cover up this glaring fact by talking about more fancy things like possible pokerdome sponsorships and possible televised final tables. It is all just talk. Reminds me of when they first opened the Hurstville Dome they advertised "vallet car parking and attractive floor staff" it made me laugh at the time. And it never happened, parking there is attrocious and I have sat at a table where CEO Chris L. specificaly asked for the girl serving drinks 2 put on some clothes. The whole table thought it was hillarious and 1 guy asked him about it. Chris replied and I quote "no1 should have 2 look at that" and he was dead right!

Deadset average. What can you say about the Hurstville Pokerdome has promised the world and delivered nothing. It was supposed to be a players paradise and it still remains a very average poker room, in the back of a seedy tavern. - Despite a couple of coats of paint recently. Now once again, they keep on dragging down the main event, its not bad enough they reduced the stack and blind levels. Now the prizepool?I shudder @ the next lot of improvements.

One year ago the Oz Poker Tour Main Event was a $55 entry event and players were happy when the prize pool reached $5000. We decided to improve the event and now the minimum prize pool is $20,000 and has even reached $30,000. In Season 2 we introduced the Player of the Season award which is points based and I think it has worked very well. We increased the entry fee to $200 which had an immediate impact on the prize pool, again a positive step.Season 3 is announced and this time with a revamped points structure giving many more players the chance to share in the prizes. Players will be no worse off than in Season 2 on a weekly basis and in fact based on numerous factors we believe the prize pools will increase yet again. Remember the guarantee is a minimum that the prize pool will be. We have made these changes on the advice of the person who is guiding us through the TV process. He is without doubt one of the most senior people in the business and was Kerry Packers right hand man through the World Series Cricket set up. He has also developed many other top rating TV shows. Make no mistake, this is not a pipe dream and only yesterday we had the people from IMG Media all over the venue in preparation for the commencement which is currently estimated in July. The $30,000 TV table located at Hurstville is not there just to take up space. In regards to the satellite cards, they have been scrapped and will be replaced with a frequent player point system which will come into effect within the next week. These points can be used to enter into satellites, single table tournaments and major events. Each time a player purchases a ticket their points will be listed on the ticket. It’s all about rewarding those who support us on a regular basis. The starting stack of the Main Event has not been reduced since the tournament began. The blind levels were reduced from 40 to 30 minutes in the interests of finishing the event in one day which we currently do.This event is not overcomplicated and never will be however if it is to have appeal to a television audience then a semi final and grand final series is essential. Season 3 will be the final dress rehearsal for what will really be the Main Event in July.

Still in disagreement with a lot of the changes however I do like the FPP. Provided they dont have to be accumulated within a week and are ongoing.
