Ultimate Poker Joke!

Hi all

I am a semi regular player in the west and pretty much keep to myself. I have never had the need to get on here and post until now.

I won a ticket into the ultimate poker $70k event and chose to play day1 at the Mount Druitt Workers Club today. They have already had 2 day 1's over the last 2 weeks.

I arrived at 1.30pm for a 2.00pm start and joined a very long line of punters to register at the desk with 1 laptop. I stood in line for about 15 minutes and finally got registered. I then stood in line at the bar to get a beer. Then i lined up with what looked like about 300 people with 5 minutes to go before the scheduled start time. At 2.10pm i finally got in to take a seat wherever i liked (not much choice with only about 10 tables left).
The game finally got underway at about 2.30pm and I rang my mate to find out where he was, he said he was seated at the dinning tables in the bistro!!

I heard they had 410 runners today. Somebody please tell me if i'm wrong but wouldn't the idiots running the show know how many tickets they had given out and wouldn't it be an easy mathematical equation to subtract the number of runners at the other 2 day 1's and roughly know how many to expect at the last day 1? I heard they were expecting 250

Now i'm not one to rubbish people but i have read a lot of stuff from you guys about Dean Lewis and all i can say is that guy is an asshole and you were right about him.

Any way back to APL, NPL and OPT if they still have any venues.

They were giving these tickets away like unwanted gifts from hated relatives.

LOL @ UPT, up until yesterday @ Bexley RSL I recieved a msg they are still giving away tickets to that event as part of their prize pool.

Anyone else think they may have got a tad to ambitious with $70k and are now panicking?

I'd appreciate a reply from someone from UPT to explain the situation.

I was at the game as well, and whilst it was unorganized to start with, it was a great tourney. If I had a dollar everytime some complained about a long line, geezus, I'd be rich. Your even complaining about lining up for a beer!? Give me a break.
I have played with all the leagues just like I'm sure most of you guys have, and I am a regular UPT player.
I have no intention of going back to APL or NPL, and it sounds like Westdude, is not even a regular follower of the UPT. That being the case, you judge them on one event. You obviously were not good, or lucky enough to make DAY 2 which was run pretty smoothly and was a fun day for what I heard from the players who were there.
People like you should go back to APL or NPL or OPT. Let them listen to you bitch. I don't need you bagging my league.

Figure that they were at least $20 SnG's x 8 = $160

If there were 410 players at one of the days, you got to figure at least 200 at each of the other days. So let's say 800

800 x $160 = $128,000

Sounds like a rip off scam to me.......

And a lot of tables had to play at dining tables ??? Seriously ???

I actually went to play UPT at the Crown Hotel last Tuesday they had 4 runners so after calculations and being told they were still raking the pot I thought even money for beating 3 players was not good odds. In saying that it would have been good value as they gave 2 tickets to the final-tranferable for 20 bucks!!!!

Unorganised is an understatement. Players being seated at dining tables in the bistro!!! You sound like one of the organisers...?

No i'm not a "regular" follower of upt but i do manged to play "your" events a few times a month as i do the other leagues around the traps because i do shift work and can not get to the same game on a weekly basis.

And if it is "your league" as you say, how could you not know how many people would turn up? Please explain how many tickets were given away and how many turned up to the 2 previous days and you did not know how many to expect?

As for your comment on me going back to APL, NPL or OPT and let them listen to me bitch....refer to my first paragraph in original post.

I think unfortunately i will still have to play upt every now and then as work permits to get my poker fix.

For the record I did get unlucky and busted out in the $1k/$2k level, my KKvQQ against a big stack.
