NPL please change your tourney blind structures. once a week i play in the deepstack at willoughby and the blind structures are shit.
the starting stack of 25 k is great however i just find the blinds go up way too quickly and after a while its just a shove fest with 9 or less big blinds.
can you please make the blind structures longer say 20-30 minutes.

Hi guys, I organise the game at Club Willoughby. The game is also run at several venues throughout Sydney and we have never registered a complaint. I am aware that no operator can please 100% of the poker playing public, but this particlar game seems to be a winner.
Because of time restaints in some venues, like Willoughby, we have to "time manage" the games, but it has always been acceptable to the majority, people love the game....
My recomendation to you, and any other player concerned with the particular game that they play, would be to approach your venue T.D. or operator and let them know that you have an issue with a game.
That's not just NPL, that goes for all poker operators. Talk to the people on the ground before getting on to public forums, you might be surprised.
I will personally broach your concern with the TD, and you are welcome to approach him anytime, he will be happy to explain any of our policies with you...
Good luck and good poker...

Default I see your point

As a general point - I agree with you. 15 minute blind levels are a lottery and not a fair test of skill- particularly when levels are skipped and later on in the tournament, however, you have to remember that you are playing pub tournaments that are scheduled for ~4 hour tournament completion. Most pub tournaments will not please poker purists and they are designed as a night out more than anyting else. Clubs have closing times and TD's have day jobs - they cant run forever!

If you want to play a deep stack with 30 minute blinds, you probably need to look at dedicated poker venues (eg pokerdome, poker HQ, Casino, etc)

Very few venues run 30 min blinds ever.

Also, Have you ever played the $200 Buyin event at Star City Monday ? 3,000 Start Stack ? I would hardly say this is for the purists ? What is a purist anyway ?

Most hotels require that the venue be vacated by 11:45pm during the week for licensing purposes. AND most players want to get home at a reasonable time so they can go to work the next morning.

Our events are mostly 15min blinds (except some Saturday day games) and the majority of our games start with 20k chip stacks.

And I would argue that these games are certainly a test of skill - just as an online Turbo is a different strategy to the WSOp Main Event. It is just a test of a different skillset.

We never get complaints over our structures as we always push it out to finish at 11:50pm.

The majority of hotel games offer great value for an average $15 - $20 buyin ...... after all - Star City = $200 per 3,000 chips on a Monday at 12pm. Maybe try that out !

Or come out to Western Sydney ..... we run a great deepstack 20k, 20min $55 at Brewhouse St Marys Saturday 1pm start
