No I don't. In all reality I doubt the majority of our players who actually are interested in this development will actually be proactive about it.

Just my two bobs worth as a player of over 12 years...

Myself, my poker mates, colleagues who play poker would certainly "give a shit" if this regulation of the industry was successful.

As a "self-regulated" measure, it will only be successful if the code, or values that are publicly advertised are kept quite simple on the main, public level (of course a more detailed service charter can be agreed to at a stakeholder level.)

If there was some kind of respected "tick of approval" or "code of ethics" that an operator subscibed to and can advertise along with all of their marketing - it would certainly make us more willing to visit and play - howevr it can only work and be of any value if:

    1) The basic principles that are advertised are kept simple and to a minimum and clearly defined.
    2) The basic principles are ones that are clearly apparent if they are being adhered to or otherwise.
    3) There is some "body" that an operator with the "tick of approval" can be reported to and that "tick" can be withdrawn for proven infractions.
    4) That the (main) principles are ones that are important to the integrity and fairness of the game, such as (only some suggestions):

    a) That all buy-ins are clearly shown at the start of play and as they are added to or "topped-up" so that the money collected is distributed as advertised
    b) That prize pools are determined by a certain time (early in play) and made know (preferably by electronic software system) to all players.
    c) That the TD must always remain neutral and uphold the laws of the game without bias.
    d) That new players will be made welcome and further, that any serious abuse of another player will not be tolerated.
    e) That the operators will endeavour to foster an environment of enjoyment and education of the game of poker at all times.

I know for sure that a venue that sported this "tick of approval" and was bound be these rules - would get my custom over one that didn't - again, importantly, especially if there was some recourse for the player if these ethics are not adhered to.

Just my thoughts, my honest thoughts and certainly a good thing if it can be implemented.
Never get into a fight with an ugly person - they have nothing to lose!!!
