Why don't the websites for these casinos have any info at all about the upcoming ANZPT Gold Coast or any of the related satellite program?

I think that is a question best directed towards the casinos themselves; although given this is your second thread (iirc?) about this tourney and related discussion that you may have done that already.
Just spitballing, but I think given that the casino doesnt appear to be making anything out of the tournament (in pure rake terms, im discounting hotel nights/meals/other spending etc) then it may not be considered important enough.
But (gasp) I have been wrong before...
Seriously rickwaa be more of a loser.
<<< sigh...I'm a n00b

ok..so yea...SP is on the ball (again?)
If you're a gold coast local or have even been following the recent Jupiters 1/2 threads...The basic reason is that they don't believe Poker is a priority on any level and hence they couldn't give a fuck.
There are many alternate avenues to investigate and Jupiters/TABCORP is not one
Can someone explain what the deal is in QLD with Poker?
What exactly are the differences between QLD and other states with regard to poker tournaments? Anyone know why?
Surely if we put some effort into lobbying the right people we could get things changed? Then maybe an alternative venue might become much more possible.
Murph
I believe this has to do with the Qld Govt legislation that prevents Casinos (or any venue for that matter) charging a "rake" or other entry fee for TOURNAMENT poker. This is not to be confused with cash ring games running at all Casinos.
If you check the ANZPT website regarding the Qld tournys they state that the ENTIRE buy-in goes into the prize pool as per Govt regulations.
For Treasury or Jupiters there is zero incentive to hold and run large multi table tournaments using their equipment and staff as they cannot take any part of the buy-in to offset these costs.
We need to lobby the Govt. to change the legislation and to do this we need the help of the casinos. We need to find "friends" within this business to push the right people in the right directions. Unfortunately, the poker community in Qld is just so small that we simply do not have the numbers to really show the Govt their legislation needs changing.
I am all for getting it changed, I'm just not going to hold my breath for it to happen!
Everyone has a photographic memory, some just don't have film.
Cheers for the response T Dog.
Do any QLD players care enough to put some effort into trying to get some changes made? I don't see why we cannot set up a QLD poker association to work with the Casino's and powers that be to get something done.
Sometimes these things are much simpler than they seem, has anyone ever had a good try at this before? (I am fairly new to Aus and poker). And I don't mean the Casino's as anything they try to do themselves is probably only going to be viewed as something that only benefits them. It needs some kind of representation of the players here I would think.
Great idea, i can drum up a dozen, maby more. I promise to personally ensure that u$ual$u$pect has been medicated prior to any meetings.Do any QLD players care enough to put some effort into trying to get some changes made?
