Default Any weekly high roller (ish) tournaments?

At star city, they have a good $330 tournament each Wednesday, but this is the highest I have found since poker de nom, other than the odd games we have up at Level 6, Ivy bar when musicians and celebs are in town. ($5000 chips-stacks of them, but you really need to be 'invited' to a level 6 function)...anyway, just throwing that in there if nobody knew about it...... What I'm wondering is why are there no $800-$1500 weekly, bi-weekly or maybe even monthly tournaments going on around Sydney, surely with the awesome level of poker being played by all these real estate dudes and company directors in star city that there is some sort of asking for it?

How come nobody like star city, or even NPL offer regular higher than usual poker tournaments? Surely it has crossed their minds and they have a reason why they don't do it.
From what I see at star city over the past half decade, you could get 50 people for a $1500 buy in on a monthly turn over, surely?

I have a feeling that Justin Hemmes , owner of Ivy would allow us to organize a game up in level 6, a place that is luxury at it's finest, bar chicks in bath tubs, on beds, in the spa etc....
Also, I am trying to gauge interest in a poker cruise, not so much a cruise but more a sit in the middle of the harbor, or in darling harbor on a 96 foot launch that can cater everything and play a decent high stakes poker match on a regular occasion... Would there be interest?

Sme people have a bit more money than the regular masses, you will also notice this at star city, $330 buy in is not always treated wi that much respect from the players there paying this every week, so what about a monthly $1500 buy in tournament, either in a luxury club or a glamourous boat?

Is there any interest, does anyone hear anybody talking about their dreams of such a game, cause if there is the interest, as a person who has spent a decade networking for a company that is in the entertainment business, hosting such people as Ashton kutcher, usher, axle rose, kesha etc etc, I believe I have the contacts to bring a bit of high class to the ame her in Sydney. I'M not full of myself or anything, I just have contacts with beautiful premises and luxury toys who are always willing to let others use them for popular and fun events.

I would like to gauge interest before going and putting the time into getting something running. I am not looking to step on the toes of clubs in place who have done a good thing for poker, I would rather have them get involved and work it with me. Saying that though, as far as I know, there is nobody to catering to those who want a more regular higher stakes tournament, so I'm looking at options of starting one up.

Even if there is not an interest, is there someone out there in Sydney who has business skills aka organization skills and development skills who would like to sit down, run through some ideas, and most importantly be part of a team that can and will make shit happen.
Most people who are successful at getting things up and going etc, already have things up and going and don't have time to focus on new ventures, I personally have just sold a company and am looking for something new to do, something that is enjoyable, so I have all the time in the world right now to focus on this and making myself anything more than an entry fee to the tournament Is not important, what's important is being part of something that offers fun to those who have a high end lifestyle.

Send me a private message if anyone is keen, and let me know any ideas. We have access to boats worth multi million dollars, we have access to some of the finest and secret clubs in Sydney and we have friendships with celebrities who can get goo pd regular money on the tables and media.

Gauge interest.....set something up....call it what you want, I just want to play some good quality poker with some decent cash prizes without having to follow a circuit....I'm bored as hell at the moment with nothing on my plate, so I figure I may as well take an big interest of mine and make it more enjoyable.

I knownpeople will think I'm sitting here trying to make money, I'm not. I'm trying to vest my interest in getting a good poker tourney going, making money outnof it will naturally occur like any poker business, however, I can assure you that putting a poker tourney on in level 6 of the ivy or on a 96 foot boat, will surely outweigh any profits an organizer would make. To fill the boat up with gas alone costs $100,000, so you can imagine that is going to cost a few grand just to sit in the boat in a harbor, not to mention catering, then if we were to get it going in the ivy, that alone costs $10,000 a night, although, I'm sure a good regular game would be able to cut a deal with the owner.

Yes, I want to start something up, but there is no reason doing it if it will just fail, as for making money doing it, I would rather sit at the poker table and enjoy everything that the expenses will have to offer on top of some quality poker with some serious people trying to win $20,000.

Unless there is of course a good poker game with good atmosphere already going, that's not in some dive pub.

Gauging interest is the first step to making it happen, if the interest is there, I shall get us a glamourous room with all the spoils of being in a glamerous establishment while we play the game we all love to play. Sme people have a finer taste for things in life, others may just want to have a better chance at taking home 20k, on a weekly, monthly basis, and some out there might like to see and experience some of the finer things in life while playing poker.

Sydney is a beautiful city, that has so many intense gorgeous establishments on offer and I'm sick to death of only being able to find tournaments that pay $500 guaranteed outside of star city on a regular basis. Sadly, I'm not a person who wants to spend 6 hours playing a tournament for my chance at making $500, when there are many many many jobs in this city that pay truck load more than that. I believe there is many other people out there that feel the same way.

P.S. Joel, I'm pretty sure you would be a regular face at such a game, after all it, is people like you, Terry, Mark, Tom, Sam, Paulie, Tony, Grant etc that I have mind when thinking something like this could work.

No offense to those who run sin city, but my experiences there have easily been the worst poker I have come across on the planet. One tourney was a rebut with some mental dude going all in every single hand and this went on forever, another issue the same day was arguing over rules and it always seemed the guy who has the mate who works there is always correct, loads of showing your buddy the cards you are mucking, as well as talking in the hands. It just seemed like a run down place trying to keep poker alive, it just felt like there was no love of the game there.
It may be a great place for a quick round of poker, but it is not a place I want to sit in for a $1500 buy in, especially not having loud tables next to a $1500 buy in playing a $20 sit n go etc....

What I'm talking about is a place that caters for the money you are paying to be there, a place with smart dress, beautiful customer service, and if out on a boat, a little speed/ferry boat that I'll race to one of the darling harbor reastaraunts to collect your selection from the many menus, something with class.
If I'm paying the house $150 on top of the $1500 buy in, then I want class that a pub is obviously not going to be able to provide.

The next level up, it can be provided, we just need interest. Twenty people would be a good starting number, even ten could work for a special day out on a boat, and we are talking a boat that usher just filmed a movie clip on, the same boat that basement jaxx had a new years eve party on, andnthat we took ice cube and his entourage on, poker with class.

Of coursepoker comes first, but the environemnt is something that can also be enjoyed or hated, and with Sydney being so beautiful and the third most expensive city on this planet to call home, then we have an abundance of enjoyable spots that we can take the game we love.

Anyway, if someone wants to seriously sit down and do the poker side of the organizing an event while I organize a environment, then we can get it going. I have the boat(s), have contacts to the most lavish clubs in Sydney and a handful of celebrities with cash that want to try the 'Latest trend' that poker is.
Poker is the most watched sport in the USA at this very moment, more so than baseball or the NBA, now is the time to get a classy environment for it, we need to not only attract more people to the game, but we need to keep the good Australian poker players in Australia, andmmaybe something as simple as this is a good stepping stone that can help it evolve.

I just don't want to be the guy who has to organize the rules, be responsible for structure etc, I want someone who has put more thoughtnand experience into it than I have to help with this part.

One tourney I had at sin city, I was heads up on final table and had all the locals sitting their abusing my style of play while I was heads up with their mate, the dude operating the place on the day was included in this barrage of abuse, they were asking me all sorts of questions about my moves and my game andmgiving me shit, as far I am concerned, that's not acceptable. No fkn way would I want to play anything over a $100 buy in at that place......if that.

Let's kick one off and see how it goes????
Send an email to bigwaynz@me.com to book your seat.
    Max of 50 seats.
Once we have interest via email then I will buy top class tables andnchips.

We will be using a club in darlinghurst, buy in would be $1500+$150
the expensive $150 will go towards food, certain drinks and buying the tables and chips. Once tables and chips are paid for in the first tournament, then the buy in will drop, or get higher, but the house fee will drop.

Once we have interest, we will announce the club, and it is a nice club that will be made very private and will have awesome staff catering to our needs, once tournament starts, doors will be locked to public and what happens in the club, stays in the club.

Let's make the date three weeks from now on a Monday night.

This thread will probably be an epic fail, but may as well try
