It just seemed like a run down place trying to keep poker alive, it just felt like there was no love of the game there.
It may be a great place for a quick round of poker, but it is not a place I want to sit in for a $1500 buy in, especially not having loud tables next to a $1500 buy in playing a $20 sit n go etc....
What I'm talking about is a place that caters for the money you are paying to be there, a place with smart dress, beautiful customer service, and if out on a boat, a little speed/ferry boat that I'll race to one of the darling harbor reastaraunts to collect your selection from the many menus, something with class.
If I'm paying the house $150 on top of the $1500 buy in, then I want class that a pub is obviously not going to be able to provide.
The next level up, it can be provided, we just need interest. Twenty people would be a good starting number, even ten could work for a special day out on a boat, and we are talking a boat that usher just filmed a movie clip on, the same boat that basement jaxx had a new years eve party on, andnthat we took ice cube and his entourage on, poker with class.
Of coursepoker comes first, but the environemnt is something that can also be enjoyed or hated, and with Sydney being so beautiful and the third most expensive city on this planet to call home, then we have an abundance of enjoyable spots that we can take the game we love.
Anyway, if someone wants to seriously sit down and do the poker side of the organizing an event while I organize a environment, then we can get it going. I have the boat(s), have contacts to the most lavish clubs in Sydney and a handful of celebrities with cash that want to try the 'Latest trend' that poker is.
Poker is the most watched sport in the USA at this very moment, more so than baseball or the NBA, now is the time to get a classy environment for it, we need to not only attract more people to the game, but we need to keep the good Australian poker players in Australia, andmmaybe something as simple as this is a good stepping stone that can help it evolve.
I just don't want to be the guy who has to organize the rules, be responsible for structure etc, I want someone who has put more thoughtnand experience into it than I have to help with this part.
