Default Poker winner robbed at knifepoint after Crown tournament

AN American poker player has been robbed at knifepoint this morning after leaving a card tournament at Crown Casino. The 22-year-old man was robbed by an unknown man of a significant amount of American dollars near Spencer St just after 4am.The victim, who had been playing in Crown's popular Aussie Millions poker tournament, will address the media at 9am at Victoria Police headquarters in Flinders St.Anyone know who this is? There was a 500-1000 PLO game going with a lot of cash on it in the early hours. Or it could've been after the party... article

He's a 2+2 poster, JP OSU, said he was hit on the head from behind and robbed of $30K he had in a hoodie.

Only a few days ago a mate was going to his car with $100k in cash after a tourney win... I told him that people have been whacked on the back of the head in the carpark so we went down together.People can easily see you cash out or chip up. As said on the 2+2 forum, this is a caution to people carrying this sort of money around. You can request an escort from Crown security, get a cheque or open an account at Crown. I would NEVER leave Crown at night with over 2k.Sad sad story.

Someone must have seen him cash the $30k? I'm guessing they'll get caught because Crown will review their surveilance and question everyone that knew he had the money. No way is this a random mugger that got lucky.

I don't know whether the player requested a cheque or not but Crown have a disgraceful policy of refusing to write a cheque unless it is 100% verifiable that it is winnings. Offering to have security escort you to a car or taxi is just not good enough. Any criminal intent on a robbery may easily be able to track you to a hotel airport or train.
