Default Recession and Poker

there is a lot of talk about the "nearing recession".I think that on this forum are a few people with good understanding of complex economics and a good sense of what's to come in the near future.Would you please iluminate us and have your prediction on how will poker players will be afected....or perhaps how one can go into a survival mode?

Don't worry too much. Gamblers don't stop playing because they can no longer afford to lose.

I'm no economic expert however, if you look at a lot of the movies which portray the great depression you see gambling is prevelant amoungst all classes of people, particularly the poor. Whether it be boxing, horse racing or poker. I think a lot of people turn to gambling too supplement what little money they have.Cheers,Ice

in the instance of a recession, the 80nl at star city will drop to 60nl. the 60nl at crown wil drop to 50nl(they are obviously already poor in melbourne). 200-500nl games will drop to 100-300. all pot-limit games will change to half pot-limit. online rakeback offers will become more and more uncommon and scandinavians will be band from playing poker online

There is no nearing recession in Australia. In fact the economy is so strong that interest rates are getting to their highest in years. So for live poker players in Australia...there is absolutely nothing to worry about. The impending recession is in America, but so what? Recessions happen in all economies and it will probably pass in a year or two. It is just part of an economic cycle that every country goes though. Also, recessions mainly effect the low/middle class who pay mortgages and what not. Not really the group of people who were liable to lose alot of money playing poker anyway. Everyone just chill and improve ure game. The fish are going nowhere.

If it was not for the media. 99% of people would not even know a recession was taking place.Im tempted to suggest that its 99.99% of people. 'I'm no economic expert however, if you look at a lot of the movies which portray the great depression you see gambling is prevelant amoungst all classes of people, particularly the poor. 'Ice, a 'recession' and 'the depression' are two very very different things.
