Default SA Championships raided by Police!

Yes it's true.Everyone there has had a report put in on them, and the police say everyone will receive a summons, but I still don't think that will happen. The equipment was confiscated, so the apa have no computer to even post anything anywhere I guess.I think my usual walking group is looking like a good activity for me this sunday again, unless the police apoligise and give everything back before then so we can play.I guess the question now is can the apa get compensation for having the place illegally closed down?

Quite remarkable considering South Australia has already had a court decision ruling poker a game of skill and therefore legal.

Hi,I was looking at going to the apa this friday night to check it out and perhaps particiapte in one of the freerolls. Understandibly I am now a bit dubious about it. Can someone please tell me if the APA is legal or not, and what exactly is going on?

Does anyone know if this is just an issue in SA or do other States need to be concerned?

I'd be interested to know what happens to the $10000 that the punters forked out before the cops arrived. Is there any way this can be returned back to the players?

It was almost surreal the police came in, told us to stop. They were acting like we were all going to do the bolt out the door. Everyone just kept playing for a bit and there was lost of laughing. There were one or two cops per table taking down details and some took statements. I asked one of them if Poker is a game of Skill or Chance and he said that it was chance, I offered him a game and he said that I'd win everytime, I think that proved my point. They charged us with Unlawful Gaming, Illegal Betting and being on premises where unlawful gaming was taking place. If you guys have any questions about it I'll try and give my take on it but there's nothing more to add. Once they took a statement/details that took a photo of you and walked you outside. It felt like there were 50 cops there including star force. Surely they could be out catching the drink drivers instead of hassling a few card players. I just hope we don't get a conviction since it will be a huge pain for those that travel overseas regularly. The Legislation for those laws can be found herePS I had k 9 suited. Guy had Jacks would have won that hand.
