Default Aussie Millions Online Sats

Not sure if this has been covered before. I notice Full Tilt is not sponsoring the AM and Poker Stars don't seem to have any satellites that I can find and I see that 888 seemed about the only place where you could win a seat.

Surely this lack of sponsorship and satellites on a large online site will be devastating for numbers in 2009.

I assume this means that Full Tilt won't be sending any of their pro's or 'friends of FT' to the tournament.

No televised cash games, high $$ buy-in tournaments or pre tournament cruises and parties.

If Stars also don't run satellites what kind of numbers are the organisers expecting for the Main Event. It just seems like the wheels have really fallen off the apple cart this time around.

Is there any news / rumours out there that will give some glimmer of hope to make us believe that the AM has not dropped off the poker radar.

We'll be publishing details very shortly of the upcoming Aussie Millions satellites from ALL of the online sites so that you can easily locate a satellite or freeroll and try to qualify for the 2009 AM.

Don't worry there will be plenty of satellites in the coming months. Stay tuned!

But will any Pros be here seeing as FTP is not sponsoring it.

Considering the past years and the interviews with the pros they say they love coming down here so it will be interesting to see who turns up!

Lets be honest the 2009 Aussie Millions seems like it will be a bit of a joke in terms of numbers.

There is still time to turn things around Jonno, and I have the utmost respect for you as a TD, but whoever is in charge of organising online partners really needs to have a good hard look at themselves.

I have tried over the past week to play the sats into the $500 qualifier. By buying in to the $100~ events 5 times, I have had every single one cancelled. Today I bought into the $22 feeder one, I was disconnected to 888 until it was heads up (6 entrants) - meanwhile was playing on 4 other sites. My cards would show up on 888 but would just fold for me EVERY time...do u know what it is like to see hands like AA and QQ automatically fold in front of you - lucky 2nd place got me my money back.

2 years ago we were qualifyuing from September on Stars...now its nearly November - just 10 weeks away from the ME and you can't find a meaningful satellite process....

I have noticed an extensive prgram at Crown, but we cant all get to Crown on a daily basis...something has to be done with a mainstream Site. Stars will not do it because of the conflict with APPT Sydney which is understandable, but come on - lets get serious....this is the Aussie Millions we are talking about

I would say that 80% of the Full Tilt Pros that ventured out this year will return.

Crown, with the help of Kenna James and Marsha Waggoner, have gone on a big recruiting mission to bring down some of the best players on the circuit.

Thats all good - but what about all the other FTP qualifiers from the US. I have no idea how many there were - but ther would have to have been 100+

I'm assuming you're talking about the Aussie Millions previously, because FTP aren't supplying anywhere near that number for the next 2009 Aussie Millions.

Care to explain???

How can you say this??? 747 last year and 780 this year. The numbers we lose from full tilt we will gain from the smaller sites.

Well if Full Tilt have pulled out, and Stars is commited to APPT, EPT, LAPT etc who else you could you bring on apart from the small independents?

Tim,

Don't get all personal mate - I have the utmost respect for you - and what you do for poker in this country, and alot of your efforts go unnoticed, and I have always felt that you do not get the recognition you deserve. In response to you....

(I am too dumb to the quote thing so work with me here)

1. - Along with the FTP pros, there were obviously a number of Internet Qualifiers who qualified on FTP. Some will be replaced by this years satellite winners, however there were sats on the other sites last year also, so we could expect a significant drop in online qualifiers. My estimate was 100 non pro FTP qualifiers.

2. - It seems like a joke on numbers - meaning that I would expect a considerable drop from the 780 we had in 2008. Some have set the over/under line at 500. In all walks of life, people like to improve on previous years, and it is widely thought that this years numbers will drop from last year. I dont feel we will gain all the numbers we lose from FTP.

3. - FTP, Stars - who would I choose - fair point, however iPoker is not running any as yet, only 888 and Ongame (as far as I know) - the lucrative US market is being left out. My point was more to the case why did we let FTP pull out. On hearsay, and I do not know the full story, but I have been told that Crown gave FTP the flick? - I doubt this is true - but as I said, this is what I have heard and read on this very message board.

4. - Not Jonno's fault at all - and I did specify that. Its just that 888 do not get the numbers to run the qualifiers on a consistent basis. The fact that their software gives alot of people issues is a well known fact. My only reference to Jonno was that he could look at who was marketing the AM as a significant drop in numbers would be a perceived failure on Crown's part.

5. - Not everyone has the time to spend day in/day out at Crown. All I am saying is that if anything there should be more choice...not much less choice.

It is Thursday afternnon - there is a $500 qualifier on 888 on Sunday morning, and nobody has registered as yet, which tells me that that the 4+ direct feeders into Sunday's event every day, have ALL been cancelled as they can't get 4 runners.....

i wouldn't worry about numbers. Tim is right and I think you'll find that a shitload of the full tilt pros will come down for the event anyway- because they love australia and its a holiday for them down here.

I think the micro gaming network (whatever redkings poker is on) are running satellites as of now aswell. There will be a boatload of european sites running satellites aswell. Titan and tony G will run them (ipoker) too.

Furthermore, alot of international players will be coming simply because of the APPT in sydney a week or two earlier- they'll kill two birds with one stone playing in 2 high buy in events in 2 of the best cities in the world, run by 2 of the best tournament directors in the world.

If there is a drop i still reckon there will be at least 600 players for the main event and i think they would still guarantee a 1 million dollar first prize.

But, as nikkaka makes obvious- it's really tilting not being to satellite in on any sites other than pacific which barely gets any feeder satellites- spending $500 USD a week on a single satellite can get expensive- so the exposure of available satellites up to this point has been pretty weak, admin just said they'd generate a list very soon which is really handy.

Also, on top of kenna rounding up iconic players, i reckon joe hachem will be doing his best to get all the pokerstars pros to come to the Aussie millions after the APPT especially since it's now not affiliated with full tilt, and how much he loves this event and his relationship with crown.
