    Default ANZPT Sydney Schedule Released

Star City Poker Manager Deb Rillo has sent me the proposed schedule for ANZPT Sydney.

The 11 day championship features the $2200 ANZPT Main Event, $550 6 handed, a poker/casino industry tournament following the huge success of this event in Adelaide, $275 Pot Limit Omaha - one rebuy, Deep Stack No Limit holdem and lots of satellites for the Main Event.

The opening $275 Holdem event will feature 2 flights with an expected field of over 500.

Nice series Danny, looks like it should be a huge success!

Just out of curiosity, when do you think structures will be out? I'm interested in playing some of the preliminaries as well as the main but my travel to Sydney will depend on whether the preliminaries will actually be worth it.

Deb is working on them so I'd expect certainly this month.

Note also, preliminaries are priced so that various combinations add up to $2200 - any player who wins a 2nd main event entry during the all seat satellites at Star City in April can convert this to preliminary events.

Things are looking up for the poker room at Star City. The Tourneys (structures, various buy ins etc) have started to look pretty good of late.

Now to just address the issue of the rake on the smaller cash games (200-500 and lower) and it will be a sensation. That, and allowing food in the pit.

Or more importantly (IMHO) the time WASTED by dealers making the pots PRETTY by
stacking them nicely, making sure they are all the same colours and denominations,
in managable stacks of 20, or four, or five, whatever takes their fancy. But that is all
okay, because this is done during that wasted time between when they gather the bets
in from the last action and that thing they call the flop. No point doing it after the flop,
whilst action is pending - what does a dealer do if there is no action? How can he/she
show off his/her skills at stacking chips?

Danny, Deb, please forgive the sarcasm, but something really has to be done about
this ridiculous WASTE OF TIME! No Limit Hold'em is a game where the players should
be able to mentally track the pot, not have it counted for them, nor be in nice regular
and easily countable stacks. You may ask for a pot to be spread, but not counted,
nor have it counted for you. Please let me know if this is not the case at Star, or in
Australia, because it most certainly is the case in every other place and country in
which I have played. btw - I am referring to NO Limit only (not Pot or Fixed Limit).

PLEASE tell your dealers that IF they want to do this (which they shouldn't) then they
should do it AFTER the flop, turn or river, whichever is relevant, and whilst waiting for
the next action - not DELAYING EVERYONE by making it look good for the cameras,
or whatever. There has to be a more intelligent way!

This has happened at every tournament event in which I have played at Star. It does
not seem to happen at Crown (or elsewhere). At the most recent event I played this
time wasting took up between 5% and 10% of a hand (depending on the amount of
action that took place). It really should take up next to NO time at all.

Forgive my rant. Getting off my high horse now . . .

In regards to the cash tables at star city. ATT DEB.

Why not just remove all this 80,200,200-500 etc crap and copy crowns exact cash game set up. eg 1/2, 2/3, 2/5, 5/10 etc and have buyins ranges. All of the above will make it easier for star to set acceptable rake charges.

I dont play that much cash at star however i feel this would be a major step in the right direction.

and by all means PLEASE implement a float and chip runners

not having either really makes the poker room limit its potential for growth
