Default Conroy the Joker on ABC Thursday Night (Internet Filter)

Stephen Conroy the joker (and who's crusade against the internet is at current threatening online poker in Australia) will be answering questions in regards to the "Internet Clean Filter" on ABC's Q&A program 9:30pm Thursday Night.

    Could be interesting.

According to the lefty protest group of which I signed a petition against the clean filter a couple of months ago:

"The architect of the Government's net censorship plans, Communications Minister Stephen Conroy, has refused interviews on the topic for months. But at 9.30pm this Thursday night we have an opportunity to put him on the spot.

On Thursday night the Senator will appear on Q&A on ABC TV - a program that allows viewers rather than journalists to ask the tough questions.

Click here to submit your question.

It's time to hold Senator Conroy to account for his censorship plan, which will slow down the internet, make it more expensive, miss the vast majority of inappropriate content and accidentally block a range of perfectly legitimate sites.

Record your question for Stephen Conroy today:

Thanks for being part of this,

    The GetUp Team

P.S. Let's challenge Senator Conroy to justify his internet censorship plan when he appears on Q&A at 9.30pm on Thursday night. Click here to submit your question."

Watching this now. Conroy was asked why he won't publish the blacklist. His reply "making the blacklist public would defeat the purpose of having a blacklist". WTF???????????????????????????????

When he tried to explain why the Qld Dentist made the list he started saying something about the Russian mob before he was drowned out by laughter.

    All in all......what a goose.

I love how Conroy claimed that the Rudd government had the answers and policies for the Afghan war and the US was agreeing with them. Lol Afghanistan a country thats been at war for centuries

    Such a bumbling idiot.

He always goes back to the rape and incest porn argument... and then the Russian mob lol.

The fact that the government refuses to post a list sums up everything we're concerned about I believe and he did nothing to address that.

Another email update from the GetUp Campaign:

""We've never seen anything like the avalanche Stephen Conroy has generated."

This is how Tony Jones opened last night's episode of Q&A on ABC TV. Thousands of GetUp members sent in their questions about internet censorship to be answered by Communications Minister, Stephen Conroy. The ensuing debate is still making waves in the media.

But Senator Conroy dodged the tough questions.

That's why this morning we've arranged for Senators Nick Minchin (Liberal), Scott Ludlam (Greens) and Nick Xenaphon (Independent) to raise your questions in Parliament where they must be answered on the public record. Click below to see the impact we had last night, and to send in your unanswered questions to demand a legitimate response:

    >
Last night's Q&A show was Senator Conroy's first major media appearance to discuss the Government's misguided internet censorship plans. But it raised more questions than it answered.

The Senator set off alarm bells when he disclosed that a "technical error" had resulted in PG-rated material being blacklisted, and that the proposed internet filter would miss crucial peer-to-peer content. It's time the Government is held to account for it's misguided internet filter.

There are just weeks to go before the Federal Government's internet filter trial results will be in. With politicians set to return to Canberra now is the time to let them know how you feel about the issue.

I wonder if we will be able to sue the government for loss of income should the filter block poker sites? That would be kind of nice, I have always wanted to sue the government.

Do you pay taxes as a result of your income? In almost all cases, nope.

Does the government recognise you as a professional in your field of expertise? Nope.

Does the government consider someone who plays poker full time to be unemployed? I'm not sure. Do they?

I ain't a lawyer, but on what grounds would you sue? Loss of income?

I think we have bigger concerns than the blocking of online poker if the government starts dictating what we do in the outside / regular world. If they block websites regarding national security, I don't see any issue. If they block JoeyDel's horse porn website, probably not so cool.

Maybe JoeyDel's horse porn concerns our national security. Who knows?
