Default 1/2 Pot 7-Card Stud cash game at Crown (proposal)

There was talk at the Crown poker tables today about having a weekly half pot 7 card stud cash game every Sunday with a $2 ante and $5 bring in.

On the table I played, 2 other players also said they would be interested in playing.

I think this game could get going, so if interested please mention it here.

A real game?.So your saying Hold Em isn,t?..Hold Em has got to be one of the best forms of poker for psychological warfare!..Not slagging 7 card stud or anything, but i,m sure if you enjoy poker in its purest form then Hold Em is the way to go...Please enlighten me how 7 Card stud is a much better form of poker than Hold Em..I,d be interested to hear your views(no sarcasm intended)..

Because 7 card stud, is always a limit game, and the chance to get to play this in a pot limit form would be epic fun. Especailly when you can get 5 betting rounds, pots would be big.

I wouldn't say it is better, I'd say it's different. It requires a different form of thought, because you can literally see a selection of your opponents cards. I think that it is definitely a much more 'psychological' game because of the fact that it is limit, therefore you can't just blindly shove on 3rd and hope, you actually have to play poker every street.

Whether that makes it a better game or not is up to each individual, really.

Would this be mixed stud or just stud hi?

it would be stud hi to begin with.

i like the idea of a round of each (of anything else)

    rake would be $25pp / h

i've been told that dealing it shouldn't be a problem for the dealers. if they can deal omaha then they would have been taught 7 card stud as well.

    Tsapy,

Nice thought, but it's never gonna happen.

Put it on the Interest List, and see how many players end up on the list.

Then if the list is sufficient, see if Crown will actually even attempt to open up a table.

I'm not knocking you, but you're in for an uphill battle.

P.S. Just because a dealer has beeen trained to deal Stud doesn't mean they can actually deal it competently. The HORSE toruneys may have helped recently, but why do you think Crown insist on $25p/h per player???? Because the hourly hand rate would be so low that any rake structure would be financial suicide for Crown.

P.P.S. The stakes you suggested in PL format make it a bigger game than a lot of people may realise, and I don't think it could ever get up let alone survive at Crown. I'm quite happy to be proved wrong though to see even more variety available @ Crown.

P.P.S. My 5 cents worth, but good luck either way
How could you call my all-in on that flop???
