$50 on stars/ftp for anybody who can

Help me set up 2 monitors.

I run a business, I have a corporate IT company looking after my IT so you would think this would be easy.

But alas - my 2 monitors are connected, but they show the same bloody screen

I am running XP - but a computer noob.

If anyone can get this to work via msn/teamviewer etc i will transfer $50 to their stars ftp acct

At work but did this last night so I think it was..

Start/Control Panel/Personalisation/Display/Identify Monitors/select second monitor/Extend desktop onto this monitor..

Then there's the option of Clone/Mirror which mirrors the first monitor onto the second one, uncheck that one.

Sorry I have the flu and was using Vista but it's pretty much the same from memory.

Also check the 'my setup' thread for a link to a program that lets u have a separate desktop pic for each monitor.

Control Panel -> Display - Settings tab.

Make sure you have two entries in the Display dropdown and make sure the extend my desktop is selected for the second monitor.

Go to control panel, display, settings, advanced settings.

Click on the tab that is for your video card, then its a matter of playing with the settings as i dont know what type of card you have.

Just make sure it isnt set to clone in the settings, it really does depend on card as you dont have to extend desktop for it to work you can assign windows to screen one or screen 2 depending on your vid card setup.

Risk - No personalisation button - maybe XP thing

Dohnut - cant find display dropdown - just says Plug and Play Monitor but no drop down

Laires - got as far as Advanced settings - tabs are: General/Adapter/Monitor?troubleshoot/Colour Management/Intel Graphics Media Accelerator Driver - which one is for video card?

Probably means you only have one video card output in the machine and will either need an extra or different card.

Difficult to tell without knowing your setup.

Right click on Desktop
Select Properties
In the Display Properties box, select Settings
Click the Display List drop down box and check both monitors are showing
Select the second monitor
Check the "extend desktop onto this monitor" box
