Default Main Event Day 1d Lockout . . . 1000 players miss out!!!

So they've locked out Day 1d of the Main Event, and there are around 1,000 players that missed out on taking to the felt.

Harrah's (at the moment) are refusing to put in a day 1e as they obviously don't like the idea of adding $10,000,000 to the prizepool to push the numbers to around 7,500!

They could easily move day 2a to the day off and play 1e tommorow and then merge that field into 2a.

Let the suckers spend their $. Seems stupid not to add another day one IMO.

ummm...am I the only one who thinks that this is entirely THEIR OWN STUPID FAULT?

The players had months to register and four days to choose from. They were warned through MANY media outlets that the final day would be very close to capacity. Yet they CHOSE to ignore the warnings and rocked up at 11:30am expecting to get a seat. MORONS!

Meanwhile we only had 800 odd registrations on Day 1b.

The unbalanced starting fields is one of the biggest problems in tournament poker at the moment IMO and there doesn't seem to be a great solution to it.

As for today the best thing they could've done was keep Antonius locked out to teach everyone a valuable lesson. Instead they let him in anyway, but many average joes and some Internet qualifiers (well done to that particular site for royally screwing your players) still miss out. Register early FFS!

Just shows how stupid poker players really are.

Don't forget that this is the 4th July weekend. A lot of U.S players wouldn't have wanted to play on Fri, Sat, Sun. Also there were players who were told on Friday "No worries, Just show up on Monday"

Harrahs also capped the field at 2800 players when they advertised on their website that the cap was 3000. Obviously they wouldn't have fit everyone in if there were 1000 turned away (although a selected few were let in)

Did they have ample time to register prior? Yes

Were they told that they could still show up on Monday and there would be planty of room? Apparently

Would it be a good idea for them to add a day 1E and buck the economic downturn trend? Definately

There have been quite a few complaints about the service that Harrahs has provided this year, but this will be a big talking point after its all said and done, and it cannot be a good thing for the players, even the ones who made it through day 1A

    I agree with tassie.

Adding an extra day 1 is stupid.

People always seem to want to reward the retarded people in this world and I don't understand why.

All players who could not organise themselves better need to keep their chins up imo.

Seat all of them as alternates. Let them stand around for 8 hours, see if they make the same mistake next year.

Given that they've already locked it out I would say this time they should add another Day 1. It is their job to make money. Annoying wealthy gamblers who choose to spend an entire month at their casino each year is not a good idea.
