Just a shame that the first big tourney Canberra hosts will be missing like 30 of the top 40 players in Australia thats all. Personally I am ecstatic for Canberra Casino that this event has been confirmed; it opens the door for future events of a similar nature, which I'm sure we'd all like to see.

Does this mean the idea has been approved in principal but the government has yet to approve the date, or that the casino has agreed with Stars but hte government has yet to approve anything?

The ACT regulator requires quite detailed information prior to approving tournaments - for example structure, dates, timings, prizepool, format of tournament. That is in motion.

My first poker tournament was Canberra is Feb 1997 for the National Poker Championships when I (and fellow Crown Pit Managers) knew 'zip' about poker. Back then together with Adelaide, these two venues were the two major events on the Australian Poker calendar.

The more 'veteran' Australian poker players have good memories and stories to tell of Canberra.

Probably my favourite casino Ive been to (not that Ive been to many).

Probably will be going and considering the size of the place may be for the best that it clashes with WSOP.

Pity it clashes with the WSOP, i'll be in Vegas.

Good to see more stops being added to the ANZPT anyway, maybe add one at Treasury separate from Jupiters if you can? They have enough tables now if there are two Day 1s. Townsville is a lost cause though they dont have the tables to support it.
