This is a good point. Ok, story time...
When I was grinding freerolls and trying to win money at SNGs I made friends with this guy, neither of us knew anything but we would discuss hands etc. on MSN. One day we happened to be in the same SNG and he told me to fold, telling me what he had. Very innocent. Later he asked me what I had during a hand and I told him. I felt obligated, and it didn't feel like I was hurting anyone but myself. This became regular over the next couple of days, he would ask, I felt like I had to tell. Then one day he told me to fold during a hand with another player. He had several people on MSN and he knew what they all had... It wasn't until that point that I realised it was cheating in every sense of the word. Obviously I haven't done it since and we are no longer friends.
I have a small amount of tolerance for friends who implictly or explictly collude when they first start playing poker. It isn't immediately obvious that it is cheating. I have no tolerance for people who would do this after realising that it is wrong (except implicit live - if your folly is on display you are not hiding anything). And props to people who never did it I guess you are smarter than I was.
