Who do these formats pander to or are beneficial to? If i wanted to play in an $1100 rebuy i would.
Anyone who now isn't willing to spend up to $3300 is disadvantaged.
Yes good luck to you if you play 1 flight and get through ,thus making it "value", but when every other player who has any ability and a hefty bankroll buys back in to have three times your stack, lets see how +ev you are now.

I'm just as equally sure some people will shoot me down in flames for my assessments, but i would like to see the people who dislike re re re re re repechages to find their voice, to show how pointless and disliked these tournaments are.

Give me an ANZPT 1 buy in any day.
Correct me if i am wrong but they can not buy in and have 3 times your stack. They just have the starting stack.

I am probably a -ev player, but i enjoy playing Crown tourneys cos I still have a chance to run deep, cash and maybe FT or take the title (such is the nature of Poker).
I have come 5th in a re-buy tourney @ Crown before, and even though i won $2.5k, i will never play another rebuy because of the crazy play! The guy that came 6th and won $2kish LOST money because he re-bought so many times!!!

I would be surprised if over 20% of the field rebuys. The reality is that most people are like me, in for 1 crack at it. The repercharge format would reduce the rebuy craziness because you can not just keep reaching and reaching and reaching. You have to come back the next day, face different opponents, it costs a decent amount (for most people) etc..

If I, as fishy as I am, was playing well (which I can do on occasion!) but get rolled by a 2 outer when I am all in - i would welcome the OPPORTUNITY to re-enter. I seriously doubt many people would play thinking "I'll call an all in with my gutshot cos I can come back tomorrow" This thinking is all to common in traditional re-buy tourneys i play (especially online).

I reckon the last level of each of the days will be a time to avoid people with the rebuy attitude tho - it will be here that the 'double up or repercharge' attitude will appear.

Thret, if you think changing the WSOP Main Event (or any $10k event) to a repecharge format doesn't change the EV of anyone, you are sadly, sadly mistaken.

lol , just to clarify g matic having "3 times your stack" doesn't mean to imply they get that immediately upon sitting down,it's a reference to what someone could do on their 2nd and 3rd chance. Yeah, i couldn't imagine repechages effecting anyone in 10k games? lol. So now u have a 20k or 30k buy in potentially, yeah i make more than that taking a schvitz!

Since when has $1,650 been ok for the "average punter" ?

For 99.5% of poker players $1,650 is not much ..... but that 0.5% is hardly average.

It was interesting to see that when Star City put on the recent opening event of the ANZPT with a decent structure and $330 buyin I am not exaggerating when I say that probably 20% of the filed for Day 2 had all played in my pub poker games !

No doubt players want to challenge themselves at these bigger games .... and $330 is an expensive investment for most people - let alone a repercharge.

I understand Tim's point of view though ..... especially when you think that if you min cash you break even in the repercharge events anyway.

Congrats to Star City for catering for the "average punter".
