Legal RE: FreeRolling Players to the Bigger Games?

I am intent on providing my players a chance to freeroll into the biggest games Australia wide.

As a Gold Coast based company I have split this year into two seasons...
We launched Aug 4th and have been slowly building since

My inaugural year operating under APS consists of:
Season One from Aug - Jan which focuses on sending my successful players to Aussie Millions
Season Two from Jan - Aug which focuses on sending my players to Gold Coast ANZPT

As APS expands we hope to cover all the major tournaments Aus Wide but initial stages will only focus on a few objectives...

Are there any laws involved?

What I mean is ...

Is there any legislation or copyright infringements involved if a Pub Poker company designs a structure where customers can freeroll to all Aus majors?

Who could I contact within Aussie Millions, ANZPT, Crown etc to confirm certain avenues I should pursue/avoid?

Danny McDonagh for ANZPT and Jonno Pittock for Aussie Millions. I used to host pub poker back in the day they can answer your questions.

Shouldnt you have thought of this before you launched? I set up a successful independent league in Bundaberg in 2006 working directly for the venue that hosted pub poker six nights a week and we just had a player who won our venue final each season win the prize package (Aussie Millions, WSOP, etc). We basically purchased the packages independently and just registered them to our player once the final was over and the player confirmed they could attend (if not we just bought them a different package they could attend instead, etc.)

You can't advertise that you are affiliated with/endorsed by ANZPT/Crown/etc unless you contact the organisation in question and ask for permission, but you can advertise an Aussie Millions ME Seat or whatever as your major prize and simply purchase the package independently for your winner and there's no problem with the law in that regard (assuming your winner is legally allowed to play poker at the venue in question, which should be fine since you seem to be targeting tournaments held in Australia - u21 cant play in the US etc)

Also regarding contacting Jonno/Danny/whoever, just call the crown poker room for Jonno and use the contact section on the ANZPT website

Teaching clubs/pubs to hire staff to run poker independently and cut out the middle man? Sure, there's a gap in the market there if you market it correctly to the club owners. Another third party pub poker provider? Good luck breaking into the market it's going to be tough

because QLD cannot rake tournament Poker it is a very tough market to crack ... but we are intent on creating a product that focuses on the existing major Poker tournaments Aus wide and freerolling as many players into these tournaments as possible...

From my understanding local APL/888PL focus on themselves. They create Big Bucks, APLPT, Wild Turkey Classic, 888 Grand Final etc etc and then reward successful/consistant players with entries into above tournaments. Plus to be brutally honest, they cannot create a proper schedule and thus are known as the Bingo leagues. Whilst plugging my own brand during a recent 888 visit I managed a final table from 120 or so runners. Avg stack was 40,000 and blinds were 10,000/20,000. Although it was a freeroll ... I could see what kind of message this was sending to the players and I felt I had a place in this industry.


So... Our goal is simple ...
Create a product that uses casino quality equipment. (We use Pocket Aces Over Kings for custom chips and a custom final table)
Create a structure where average stack especially on a final table is playable. (2 beebs is not Poker)
Offer players without a sizeable bankroll the opportunity to travel Australia and play in the biggest against the best.
We have also partnered up with some very exciting and fresh companies to help us deliver a product that is unique and all about the players.

Whether we can expand and create a stable spot in this industry ... who knows
But I do know I feel like I belong here and I am going to give it my all
