Only Federal Police in Canberra right though Velvet - so any visit from the cops at a Canberra home game would be from Feds.yoyo

the answere is simple if they see the game that is not raked or money on the table or chips with value on them , they will leave you alone.to have a home game never have cash out stick to no value chips that way they think you are all playing for fun.

Update-I went and visit the local police station today to enquiry and clarify this matter once and for all. The two cops were indeed undercover cops of the local CIB (criminal investigation branch). They have been called by one of my neighbours because the "regular gathering" of people in my garage was suspicious to them (its usually linked to drugs and illegal activities...can u see me as a swiss drug baron?...lol)They came, they saw, they were happy and they will not bother my games anymore. As they said, they had by law check out any call done to the police station. Soon to be announced, our first RDP (Red-light District Poker) event to be hold soon in brisbane...complete with uniforms, handcuffs and plastic guns of course...to celebrate the liberation of home poker games from the dark cloud of illegality)Stay tune for updates in the next few weeks.Dan

Sorry for not chiming in earlier guys but I have been out all day.Good to see you got it sorted Dan.I was going to suggest you go to the Indro police and ask but hey....There are Federal Police in Brisbane but they would not be interested in our little games, not to mention all of the laws relating to gambling in QLD (except pokies) are governed by State Government so only good old QLD police would want to talk to you about it.My advice Dan is to speak with your neighbours, apologise for the noise, promise to keep it down (not likely but at least they will feel better about it) and ask them to come and see you directly if there are any further problems.I am sure they would appreciate it.I have said this on here before but to my knowledge (and I did ALOT of research into this) and gambling at your house is totally legal as long as you are not serving alcohol etc. Personally, I will have no problems being at Dans to play and hope this does not stop anyone else coming along. Thanks for letting us all know Dan.See you tomorrow.

Invite your neighbours round for a game. If they don't know how to play offer to teach them. What could be more neighbourly than that?

Yoyo,Yes mate, thats correct. The AFP investigates 'Commonwealth' issues throughout Oz, as well as doing the traditional 'state' policing role in the ACT. The only time you're likely to see any at a home game in Canberra is when they're playing in mine

since when was it illegal for girls to be naked in a private residence anyway? as long as they arent prostitutes, and there werent any minors around is it really a problem? i dont know about qld, but here in SA, you are alowed to be naked in your house. you can even hire a stripper if you wish.

I believe it was state or federal police as the Indooroopilly station is about a 30 second drive to the game - why tell undercover cops to check it out? It's not like they pretended they wanted to play...They were in and out within about 4 minutes and seemed to treat the matter as routine... maybe they were detectives... don't think it was just the regulars
