i'm intrigued that it was the federal police and not the state cops as i cant see any possible reason for federal cops to be there. Gambling is definately a state issue ( as i suspect would be naked girls). something strange about this visit. I wouldnt look on this visit as precedent setting for home games being fine

BugsyBeeing foreigner, im not very familiar with badges and uniforms...This couple of cops werent wearing uniform, the police car was a disguised one, and their badge didnt look at all (didnt look too closely) like the one the cops at the local station have. It could have been very well the state police for what i know. Someone at the game mentioned federal police, so i assumed they knew what they were talikng about...lol (apparently not). It doesnt change the point that everything was fineDan

Ganuio1,It is normal practise for police to visit a house if there is a complaint about the noise late at night or if there are too many strange cars parked outside. The police are under an obligation to make a call when there is a complaint. They usually don't know that there is a poker game in progress. This has happened to us many times in the past ,in Adelaide. You have no worries about having a garage game as long as the players keep the noise down.

LOL, they should have been at my home game last night.... we did have girls!!! Waitressing of course! Now i am sooo seedy at work and feel like throwing up, but it was worth it!. even took a photo on my phone. Sections blacked out to make it G rated, and also to conceal identities. http://img226.imageshack.us/img226/5066/homegame7be.jpg

I would try and determine whether these were in fact real cops or someone checking whether there was enough cash there to make the game worth robbing, If the badges didnt look like the badges at the local police station something is suspect. Does anyone one else who was at the game know who they were?

Peter, I want to play poker at THAT place!Dan, Bugsy is 100% right - I can't think of any reason why federal police would respond to a noise complaint. Both gaming and noise would be QLD police responsibilities. Perhaps Anthony B. can clarify this?If their badges were indeed different and they were in plainsclothes...yoyo

Well, im not stupid to the point of not knowing a police badge...also they kept it out well visible while asking me few questions.....(and it was a lady cop that was conducting the questioning (quite cute i have to admit). They came specifically cause they got a call that a poker game was on (not for noise or anything else), and they had to check it out.
