Default QUOTE - "It takes a good player to fold pocket aces pre flop"

    Welcome to Facebook

    Enjoy.

To be fair it turned out to be AK that the guy folded ... but still some great reactions for the fans.

"It was 8 mins till the end of the day!! He got through to the final day you wankers so stfu!! God you dheads are so stupid and annoying. It takes a good player to fold AA pre flop, clearly that is none of you!! He was playing to stay in the game, not get sucked out on by a less hand!"

"A-A Has never done shit for me. Play em hard or not at all"

    Seems pretty standard.

This Dale Boyt character seems to be leveling with his comments tho.

Apl is not the laughing stock of the poker community you wankers. Why risk your chips so close to the end of the day?? Aces rarely win anyway, im sure it was a good fold. Good work Jeremy dont worry about what these dheads have to say!! There's a reason why he is playing and you guys ARENT!!!

There's little to no reason to fold A/A preflop. You're always going to be ahead until the flop. The only reason you should fold A/A preflop is if there have been like 5 all-ins before you, otherwise you're just stupid folding the best hand preflop, especially if you can get heads up, or even 3 players to the flop, and double or triple your chips.

Technically it's correct to fold aces preflop if your near the bubble and have a comfortable stack. And it's only a heads up hand u don't really want multiway all ins against it

10 minute penalty at Crown for folding aces....

    from yesteryear,,,,,

Sorry JK for the delay in responding - I simply have not had the time the even read this post with the main event over the weekend as the hours of the championship were 10.30am to 2am Saturday and midday to 4am Sunday.Let me add a few comments for people to discuss this more as I consider the heading potentially misleading as to my decision:The player in question raised 2000 was reraised a further 8000 and then folded his hand. He was going to fold them face down and Tony Hachem said you have jacks don't you and enticed him to turn his cards over. Here are some points.1. This is a major tournament and another player won 2000 from the player in question. The fact that the player in question placed 2000 in the pot was very relevant to my decision making and deciding to apply a penalty, however, I made it a minimal given the actual circumstances as related to me. Can a TD in this situation be 100% satisfied that everything was above board in this type of situation when chips have passed to another player in a very unusual way. 2. Should the fact that the player turns overs his cards and shows his Aces means he must be innocent. Does the exposing of the Aces compel a TD to act on this situation? Does ignoring the situation beg the question does Crown TD management consider the integrity of the tournament to be paramount.3. I accept there are numerous cases when folding Aces can be considered correct, for example Super Satellite as we approach the end, 11 players left on two tables in a cash tournament and we are one off the money and the player is bullying other players picking up blinds at will OR early in the tournament and a player feels he is a lot stronger than the other players and thus does not want to risk all his chips. I did not consider the player in question to fall in any of these categories. That’s a little insight into why I made the decision and I’m sure not everyone will agree. I’ll follow this thread with interest as it is now over to the players to add their comments. Here are a copy of our rules re penalties also;7.1 The Tournament Director may penalize any entrant who fails to comply with these terms and conditions or whose behaviour is assessed as being detrimental to the integrity or the proper conduct of the tournament, including but not limited to the following examples:7.1.1 Abuse of casino employees, either verbally or physically;7.1.2 Abuse of other entrants, either verbally or physically;7.1.3 An entrant showing his/her cards or verbally advising the content of his/her hand to another entrant(s) when the betting round is not complete;7.1.4 Exposing hole card(s) with action pending;7.1.5 Causing card(s) to go off the table;7.1.6 Advising another entrant how to play a hand;7.1.7 Soft-play occurs;7.1.8 Deliberately miscalling a hand;7.1.9 Sitting in the wrong seat; (see condition 3.4)7.1.10 Collusion;7.1.11 Intentionally avoiding payment of a blind when moving from a broken table;7.1.12 Discussion of the particular hand in play prior to action being complete by any player on the table whether in the hand or not;7.1.13 One player to a hand rule – no seeking advice from other competitors or bystanders; 7.1.14 Acting out of turn; and7.1.15 Concealing hole cards from other entrant(s).

At the WSOP Main Event last year a Team APL player said he'd fold Aces pre-flop if it was the first hand of tourney. Sorry to say he didn't cash.

Sigh - these are the players we breed.

I feel quite ashamed when I read comments like this. I often wonder do we have a duty of care to our players and should we perhaps enforce mandatory education courses or at least courses on poker basics for beginning players.

There is no way in the world that any player with even the most mundane understanding of Hold 'em should be making comments akin to those on this page.

Ah no mate. Just hope that they end up on your tables in some way, shape or form in the near future.

Hence why I created an 888PL Aussie Millions Satellite series for myself, online and in venue, over the next few weeks (plug).

Just joking, but we do have some solid players within our league and some have gone on to bink some decent five/six figure scores.

P.S - tongue in cheek comment about the duty of care, but I think after seeing some players in action there is an opportunity to raise some further revenue by offering some educational courses. League players are always wanting to learn some more.
