    Default CASH GAMES QUESTION

A few months ago @ Crown, I was watching the 20/40 Full Ring game whilst chatting to friends. It was pretty early in the morning and the table was down to about 6 players. As the game was now short-handed and of little value at 20/40, all players agreed that they would like to make the limit 25/50 to maintain the value that was there with 10 players. The dealer called over the supervisor, and the supervisor said "NO", we just can't change the limits of the table.WHY NOT??? All players agreed, the dealer was there anyway. The end result was that the table broke after about 5 minutes whereas all players would have continued for at least another hour @ 25/50.Lose/lose for everybody instead of win/win.WHY??????????CHEERSJOEYTEZ

    Default CASH GAMES QUESTION

Er...well dealer wins. Game breaks, frees up a spare spot for the dealer, he/she gets to walk around and not put up with crap and still get paid! I love my job. I wonder why you all can't just change the limits as you see fit, I mean after all you players do OWN the casino and all you have to do is get all the players to agree!!!! Hey, why don't we get all the players to agree on having NO RAKE while we're at it.

You will obviously never succeed in business. The players were willing to increase the limits, hence increase the rake.

Hey, just trying to keep pace with the players who think they own Crown. They beat us to it, may as well jump on the bandwagon.

I don't think they thought they owned it, they just thought it was a bit silly not to let them play a higher limit considering thats what they all wanted. I don't see what the harm was

    Default CASH GAMES QUESTION

I agree that crown should have changed the game to 25/50 if all the players wanted it. However I don't really care. What this post is about is trying to figure out what on earth you mean by "make the limit 25/50 to maintain the value that was there with 10 players".Are you saying that with 10 people the average pot is bigger so you want to get a bigger average pot? Short handed 20/40 will be as swingy as 40/80 full table. Short handed by nature is a bigger game than full table.Do you mean "value" as in "there are 6 callers I know have to call the triple raise with my T2 suited on the button cause if I flop a flush or trips I will win a huge pot"?

    Default CASH GAMES QUESTION

Bok,The value comment was made by several players as the action slowed down as each player left the table. The action slumped to the point where THEY suggested the increase to 25/50 or THEY were going home. I wasn't playing; I didn't care; it's just what happened. The only point I'm making is what did Crown gain from not allowing the 25/50???? Nothing. The table closed early which resulted in no rake, and regular players being annoyed. Why did they not allow it???? Still waiting for this as no explanation was given at the time.CHEERSJOEYTEZP.S. Not looking for a debate. Just a comment which I can hopefully get an answer to.

    Default CASH GAMES QUESTION

Fiddla, whilst I agree with you that, prima facie, the stakes should have been allowed to be raised, I think that there might be an incorrect assumption amongst Melbourne players about the casino and the players' role in that casino. The Crown poker room is not a club. The players at Crown poker room are not club members. They are $$$. Apart from Danny Mc, who makes a concerted effort to garner player's input, I can guarantee you senior management could not give a stuff about the welfare of players and/or what they think, UNLESS by doing so, they can increase their bottom line. And, almost as importantly, if they did (give a stuff), they shouldn't be in the casino business.Lately I've been getting the feeling that Melbourne players seem to think that the Crown poker room is 'their' room. The Crown poker room is a part of the Crown casino, and the casino business is a ruthless industry. Do not think for one second that anyone in top level Crown management is supporting the Crown poker room out of a love of poker - they are doing it for far more fiscally sound reasons. Do not think that if they decided it would be in the company's best interests to shut the poker room down immediately, they would not hesitate to do so without a drop of remorse. That is why they are executives and they are doing the right thing for the shareholders. In short, the Crown casino is a pure business (and a fairly ruthless business at that), not a club.Whilst I respect your right to ask for explanations and clarifications, at the end of the day, they are pretty much going to do whatever, however and whenever they want. Any expectations that they won't are futile and (a little) naive.See you down in Melbourne - 5 days to go!!!yoyo
