But up until today, as we speak in July 2011, when was the peak, thret?

Objectively the online peak could be taken from the graph of all poker sites summing:

a) the total amount of money in poker accounts
b) the total amount of money wagered in poker games
c) the total amount of rake generated in poker games

The live peak might be roughly measured by the rake generated in Vegas during the WSOP.

I don't know how to answer OP subjectively. Poker certainly seemed to be booming following Joe's win and Crown's renovation of the poker room.
