The government and the operators steal over 60% of money raised in the Lotto and other lotteries.
They only hand back to the public 30% to 40% of the total pool.
And the public goes over the moon with the size of the prizes.

If the Australian and State governments did what you suggest,spend money on roads,schools and hospitals,Australia would be Utopia.
When Gillard gave herself a $250,000pa raise,at the same time the government was cutting back on the budget for roads,schools and hospitals.
Our nurses and teachers do not strike for nothing.
So where has the other 60% gone?

I looked up on Google,under "When was the last pay increase for PM Gillard?"
The answer is 1st of December 2011.
According to Google it was $90,000pa.I had heard it was $250,000.Probably the figure grew by the time it got to me.
Nevertheless,Gillard is now paid more than Obama and Cameron.Penny Wong gets more than Obama and Cameron.
In fact most of out politicians get more than Obama and Cameron.
They also receive most of these benefits for the rest of their lives.
It is absurd.
This increase was not even debated by the government.They debated the budget and giving money to the pensioners but thir own
money grab went through without debate.
So where does the60% realy go?Roads,hospitals,schools?Are you kidding?
