Might be a good time for them to renovate down there.

I've been part of the WSOPE in London and Cannes and can tell you there is always a real buzz about the place. This is superb for Australian poker, absolutely superb.

Are there any details available on these 5 bracelet events?

What about other non bracelet events?

    Great news obv.

Any idea how this came about? i.e. Did someone from Crown push for this?

Tsapy - We're not entirely sure at the moment but we hope to have an official word from the Crown at some point.

As you are probably aware the WSOP do the European version each year and it has been a massive success but they also do an African version too. I guess an Asia-Pacific edition was on the cards. Still, it's exciting times for sure!

WSOP Africa was obviously a HUGE success with 218 players (at $3k buyin)! WSOP Europe was always going to be HUGE with the an established and mature poker environment, multiple tours already in place (EPT being the lead) & several regulated online poker markets...the experiment was ALWAYS going to be a success! Africa on the other hand was a WSOP disaster. The experiment hasn't worked and will continue to fail. One would have thought the empty stadiums in FIFA's quest to enter Africa would have been a sign the market in Africa aint quite ready!

Australia on the other hand is another beast altogether. An established poker room with a reputation to host world class poker events.

Unfortunately, the timing of the tournaments are around the EPT Grand Final dates meaning top class international players will have to make a choice: either play the end of the Euro poker season (Irish Open, WPT Vienna, EPT Berlin & EPT Grand Final all 3 weeks apart) or come to Australia to play in the WSOPAP...

On a positive note - Australia should have more WSOP bracelet holders!
