Getting Pokertracker started with Pokerstars involve a few non-intuitive steps:1) Go to the main Pokerstars software, click on "Options" and then "Instant Hand History Options". Ensure that you have the "save my hand histories" checkbox ticked.2) In Pokertracker (version 2.08.00 or higher), click "File", then "Auto Import Hand Histories/Tournament summaries", click on the radio button "All Text Files in Folder", and ensure that the directory in which your hand histories are saved in pointed to. This directory is typically "C:\program files\Pokerstars\HandHistory". Set the interval do anywhere between 3 to 10 minutes.3) In the "Auto Import Hand histories/tournament summaries" window, click on start timer, hand histories should now be downloaded live when you are playing. If hand histories are not downloaded successfully, you may want to check the first tickbox, "my PC does not update the time stamp...."4) Now you can make use of Pokertracker, you can review your hands after your play via "File/Ring Game Statistics". You can also use the Game Time window which is a tab under the "Ring Game Statistics" window.5) For effective online playing, consider using a heads-up display which can display the statistical profiles of players during live play such as GameTimePro+ (www.pokerdominion.com) or PokerAce HUD (www.pokeracesoftware.com/hud).There are a few online resources on how to use Pokertracker in an effective manner. They include http://www.pokertrackerguide.com/, the Pokertracker forums, the software forums in 2+2 and various other online articles. In may be worth buying the PokerTrackerGuide book, as the reviews are generally positive. Also, Pokertracker can at times be mind-bogglingly confusing. However, constant experimentation is key to fully understanding the software.

Yes, pokertracker works fine with Pokerstars tournaments. The statistics can be found at "File-Tournament Player Statistics"

sounds good. thank you. also wondering if there is another program that lays the stats of other players over your table so u have instant access to player info during a hand with the opponent. are there fees for these programs? Thank you for all your help so far. I am gonna try to get it all set up when i get home from work

PokerACE Hud (www.pokeracesoftware.com)GameTimePro (www.pokerdominion.com)PlayerView (www.playerview.com)PokerACE Hud seems to be most stable and it's free. Gametimepro works with a very large range of poker rooms.

Thank you again blue bear i followed the steps u gave me and i seem to be downloading stats from my table and then i downloaded poker hud now i just need to figure out how to use the stats i am getting and how to combine the 2 programs. you say things like 2+2 is a good site for this? i haventy looked yet but i will tonight. i play 2/4 no limit 6 handed on Pokerstars.. do u know if the competion is easier on any of the other websites? i am mainly on Pokerstars cause of the software it seems to run the smoothest but i have heard the ring games maybe the toughest around.

I believe that PokerAce HUD will work automatically with downloaded hand histories from Stars. I think you'll need to configure PokerAce HUD to point to your PokerStars hand history directory, but I'll need to check this later at my home computer.Regarding 2/4 NL game in Stars, I've not tried this particular game at this particular site but my impression is that the game is just as good as anywhere else in the net. (With data mining, there are more maniacs to hunt in Party). Remember to stay away from the tough tight aggressors though!

so when i have it all set up right these programs will tell me who the tough tight aggressors are and who the maniacs are? if it does that maybe why i get called sometimes when i have been playing good but they have stats of me being a bit of a maniac.
