Default Stu Ungar and confirmed cheat claims from 1997 WSOP Main Event win.

THE CONSPIRACY THEORISTS ARE AT IT AGAIN

WITH ONE GROUP ABOUT TO GO PUBLIC WITH THESE CLAIMS THAT SURFACED BRIEFLY IN 2002

( WONDER IF TINO, AND HIS HORSE, MEL SILVERFOX JUDAH ( 3RD PLACE 1997 WSOP MAIN EVENT ) WILL
    STAKE A CLAIM )

The solution came about in the 1997 WSOP FINAL EVENT, $10,000 NO-LIMIT. Stu would be backed in this event by an anonymous source (the cheats). He would use the "COBALT BLUE" glasses to read the "MARKED CARDS" in the tournament. He couldn't wear the contacts because he was doing so much drugs at this time. This is the give away. The small "COBALT BLUE" glasses should not have been used. Contact lenses should be made from the same prescription as the glasses. However Stu Unger couldn't wear the contacts lenses because drugs had affected his body in so many ways. Notice the "small glasses" Stu Unger wears in the tape of the 1997 WSOP. They are made small like this so anybody looking over his shoulder would have a harder time of seeing the cards from behind him. That would be a giveaway in itself. It is also a reason you wear contact lenses.

After winning the 1997 WSOP, Stu Unger went to the Lady Luck casino and posted $200,000 to play black-jack. He wore the same glasses. The Lady Luck was being beaten by (four hustlers) using contact lenses (names withheld by Cagliostro), at this time. All were wearing contacts. After Stu Unger went in and won around $200,000, the Lady Luck became history for the cheats. Everyone was barred. Lou xxx entered the NEVADA BLACK BOOK in 1997. They finally realized why these people had been winning money from the casino in black-jack.

The 1997 $10,000 WSOP was won using marked cards with the aid of the MANAGEMENT. Many birds were killed with this happening. For those of you that think this is a work of fiction just check out everything we have stated. How the events have gone down and watch the video tapes. It would take quite an imagination to come up with this story. Check out all the pieces to this puzzle. The "FIX" was in at the WSOP again. Watch it on video tape.

Trust me Tam,Stu Unger was a dirty cheat.
I said this years ago and I am not one for conspiracy theories.
He cheated in his main game Gin,Poker and anything else he gambled on.
The management may have been involved in the glasses scam but they certainly were involved when they were caught out
giving free $10,000 entries,to 200 local Las Vegas pros in the Main Event a few years ago.
They worship cheats and thiefs in America as long as they don't get caught.
    Doyle Brunson is an example.
Lederer and Ferguson will become legends in the American Poker folklore.
I don't understand the American mentality.
Even that dirty cheat Lance Armstrong, despised all over the world is still a hero to many Americans.
    And Tam,believe me glasses,powder that marks the cards,fixed BJ shoes,crooked dealers,computers,
magnets, loaded dice, lasers on Roulette wheels are nothing new in casinos.

Doyle Brunson was caught cheating a millionare for 16 million.
The dealer wore a band which in fact had a camera in it.As he dealt the cards the images went out to a van in the car park.
The guy in the van would transmit the information on the millionaires' cards to Brunson.Brunson wore a very tiny earpiece.
This is how he got unstuck. The earpeiece lodged in his big ear and he could not get it out.he had to go to hospital.
The news leaked out and 60 Minutes did a show on the incident.
The show was pulled and never hit the screen for some reason.
    The usual American style.

A fact. All "big" poker players and gamblers in Stu Ungers days were cheats.
Pugy Pearson,Amarillo Slim,Doyle Brunson,Benny Binion etc cheated their way around America.
I could name another 20 "big" time cheats of this era.
Get the movie Casino,to give you some insight of what goes on in Las Vegas casinos.
Rounders is another good film about cheating in poker.
If you do some research you will find that all the accusations are fact not conspiracy theories.
For example,Full Tilt fiasco was no conspiracy theory.Hard to believe it but it actually happened.

I have no doubts JK about all of the above. Where there's money people will manipulate.

But the blue glasses story just sounds like yet another urban myth to me....it's obviously been doing the rounds for years, it'll get interesting if unnamed folk were to come forward and confess.(high hopes) I'm pretty sure I have that final table on dvd somewhere, might have to check it out - iirc he spent a lot of time with the glasses perched on the end of (what was left of) his nose...

    Hi Tam,
Yes there are many casinos and tournaments where they ban wearing dark glasses.
And you are right, where there is money people will manipulate.

Anyhow, there goes the false theory that Stew was one of the best poker players of all time.
    Load of crap.
    Same goes for Brunson.
In fact same goes for all Las Vegas pros.
The fact is,if you sleep in dirt, some of it is bound to stick on you.
If you are a regular in Vegas you are mixing with cheats on daily basis.
Sooner or later you will follow their example.
    Just like drug users do.
    Temptation is just too great.

    berry1,,,

Unfortunately, you are quite correct,,,,,,our culture in Australia is checkered at best.

When you have been in and around poker circles for the better part of 50 years, you hear many and varied
stories of collusion, set-ups, organized cheating and straight out theft.

Many will recount the in-your-face dumping of chips/tournament farce that saw one player deprived of winning an event PLAYER OF THE SERIES in south australia in 1994 because of a book being run by an individual that did not want to pay off his 15 to 1 bet on himself.

    Similar story in Vanuatu.

The night before the main event, a calcutta ( a form of auction/pool wagering ) was arranged, to give everyone
a chance to be on their lucky choice for the win .

Many dollars were ponied up to ensure each punter isolated their horse for this epic finale.

The player who was bought by one wealthy individual made the final table with a very nice stack and approached his calcutta "owner and asked if there was anything extra in it for him if he took out the title ( part tongue in cheek/ part seriously /part hoping for a pat on the back and 'go get 'em",,,,,,The final table "horse" was greeted with a very abrupt "NO",,,,and walked off.

With the wind completely out of his sails, he drank alone and ran into another final table opponent and told of his 'cold shower' when simply and in good faith mentioned a 'sweetener' if he won.

Well the final table opponent was in the running for the overall Champion of the series award ( Jacket ++ cash + glory etc ) and made the disillusioned horse an offer.........dump chips to me, and i 'look after you' if i win the event + overall etc etc

    Well, the rest is history.

    Money corrupts.
    Power corrupts.
    Absolute power corrupts, absolutely.

Betting plunges on races just minutes before a huge Group 1 race are rarely because the punter was running late from work at factory and ran out of petrol on way to the TAB.....

    Berry1

There are more examples that we know of ( and countless that we do not know of ) where collusion played a massive part in what the general population deemed a "fair-challenge" / "level playing field"

Otherwise known as " a unicorn"..."a fallacy".." delusional"...unheard of where big money is involved.

    Welcome to reality.

    PS
    PS

Incidentally, berry1, ONE player at that final table was friend who always struggled with money - worked in a white collar
job and liked a casual punt.

Then one day, i ran into him at a function at a racetrack and he has a bevy of buxom beauties sipping champagne
and cocktails with him whilst he is placing bets in THE THOUSANDS !

Within weeks he disappeared and was rumored he met with foul ply or the like.

In reality, he had moved to an overseas location with 7.1 million embezzled dollars from his previous employer.

By pot-luck, this country does NOT have an extradition treaty with Australia.

    Who woulda thought, aye?

Yet it ain't all doom and gloom in the big bad world of punting, berry1....my wife and i still marvel at the generosity of one local
in Vanuatu, who, upon finding an Aussie players wallet with $1000 in it, promptly returned it to the hotel where the player was staying.

That player was my old mate DIAMOND Jim from Qld.

May that champion bloke and player rest in peace.

You do need proof before accusing players of cheating. I haven't seen anything so far that I would call proof.

    Hi Spikey,
Unger had a reputation among his peers for cheating. They didn't really care because they were all cheating.
    Namely Pearson,Doyle Brunson,Amarillo Slim etc.
Unger left New York because nobody would play with him.And the Mafia was after him for cheating one of their blokes and for non payment of credit.
When you read his biography, they want you to believe that nobody wanted to play him Gin because he was " the best".
Crap.Nobody wanted to play him because he could not play a fair game.
We have couple of guys here in Moscow who have a reputation and nobody wants to play with them.
When they come all of a sudden cards start bending and crimping.Aces start to dissappear from the deck.
Like I said we have a couple of these guys.Las vegas is full of them.Thieves and conmen go where the tourist money is.
Unger ended up there for the obvious reasons.
