What do you do when your business has nothing to do with the latest craze going around?...(Poker for the stupid people)You make it part of the latest craze going around!!Walked into my local AMF and what do I see as I walk in? A table with flyers saying "Join The Poker League", surrounded by oversized Royal Flushes stuck to the felt with sticky tape!! Wah?????? Poker League????? Did I just enter the wrong building??? What tha?Now being that my local bowling alley is in the Western Suburbs, first thing that comes to mind is "oh shit! The Westies poker team have infiltrated my local bowling alley like they've infiltrated PowerNetwork and are now planning to take it over.... like they have PN!!"So I pick up the flyer to see if there was a picture of a gay pizza chef on it and lo'n'behold, it's got the AMF logo on it. Wah!!! AMF now hold poker tournaments????So I keep reading and guess what the marketing genii at AMF have come up with? To cut a short story long, you join the league and basically, for every strike you bowl, you get a playing card (2 max per game). After the 3rd game, the person that has collected the best poker hand wins a prize!!!!!Brilliant!!! Brilliant!!!

first thing that comes to mind is "oh shit! The Westies poker team have infiltrated my local bowling alley like they've infiltrated PowerNetwork (sic) and are now planning to take it over.... like they have PN!!A truly horrifying proposition/nightmare - we should not speak of it, even in jest! Let me assure you that, to the best of my knowledge, no Westies poker team member has infiltrated PNW. They attempt (feebly) every day, but I'm happy to report these feeble attempts are successfully defended against :PPNW holds a place very close to my heart, and I'll be damned if pizza chefs (gay or not) are allowed to infiltrate my beloved soapie forum. I give you my word: I will be even more alert in the future for attempted breaches.Good night Sir.yoyo

tam tam tam !!!!! u better not come to qld looking for a friendly home game!!!!!!your statement that bowling is only for geeks might upset about 1/2 of the players at BIG D'S game on a friday night!!!! lol we now play upstairs at a bowling centre and players that bust out early in the tournament have been seen downstairs gambling over a game of bowls.but a warning to poker players coming up to play thinking they might be able to make some extra cash on the lanes !!!! some of the guys are very good bowlers 2 of them have bowled 10 300's each, 1 has won the old coke classic on tv , 1 of them is the only adult in australia to bowl back to back 300 games, at least 4 of them average over 200 in league bowling.now i could tell who they are but that would take all the fun out of it!!!!!!!!! and by the way yoyo don't you still have a challenge against dwambo!!!! lol goodluck mate.....

I do still have a pending challenge vs. the legendary Dwambo.I believe the challenge was tenpin bowling and tennis. Clearly, as I have only ever bowled twice in my life (both times I was forced to against my wishes), Dwambo will have a large advantage, being the "bowling geek" (according to Tam) that he is.However, in tennis, he doesn't stand a chance. I haven't played since I was 17 at school, but my sweet spots for passing shots are so large, I could land the new AIRBUS planes on them :PI would *almost* be willing to bet that Dwambo couldn't last ONE set of me running him around that court. 2 or 3 sets? LOL. 2 or 3 sets winning sets? Stop it! This is too funny. Even if he had a killer serve (my serve is so bad, its scary - admittedly), he wouldn't be able to take advantage of it with a volley. He'd get stuck in mid-court and I'd pass him.So, basically, we have a Mexican stand-off. I take the tennis, he takes the bowling. Here is where my +EV comes from - he *may* roll his ankle bowling, or get a sore wrist from tennis, etc. Ok, sure, its small edge stuff, but there's an edge.Perhaps, if tied at 1-1, we could play a HU poker game for the clincher?:Pyoyo

Yeah PKTRKT, only geeks go bowling!!!... Poker is for masterminds and requires skill and psychological toughness. Some people even go to extremes to psyche out their opponents...I once walked into the poker room and saw one guy dressed as the fat kid from Hey Dad! and another person dreesed like Grimace with a bung eye..... Now if that's not gonna put you on tilt i don't know what will????

Tam, I take offence to such comments! Some bowlers have their OWN shoes! A der!Interestingly (is that a word?) enough, I bowled for the first time in 15 months last week - only two games but managed to pull of a 193 and 202, the latter including a 6-bagger - guess when you've got it, you never lose it
I did manage to bruise my thumb and tear some skin off though. The scar is coming out now. I know you all care very much. Yoyo, thanks for the flowers.
