I am led to believe that you have set up an account with Westpac (Acct name: “APA Legal Defenceâ€, BSB: 035-048, Acct #: 207967) for the purpose of funding the legal defence in relation to the Adelaide APA raid in June 2005. Players who have received summons, wish to plead “not guilty†and join the defence that APA is organising may contribute money through that Westpac account. However, because of Westpac’s rather inflexible system, it is impossible to walk into a branch, deposit money into the APA Legal Defence account and have that deposit recorded against your name.Westpac’s system only allows for numbers (i.e. digits only, no letters) to be recorded against such deposits. Consequently, a player who wishes to contribute and have APA acknowledge their contribution has 2 options:1. Get from Westpac a reference number for the deposit, then ring/email the APA to let the APA know that that number relates to their deposit.2. Get a little receipt from Westpac, then fax that receipt, together with their name, to the APA.Both options are rather clumsy, but if you deposit and don’t contact the APA in some way then the APA would have no way of connecting your name to the contribution. For those of you who do their banking electronically there’s another option: go to your internet banking, transfer money to the APA Legal Defence account, and in the comment box enter your name. I transferred $200 today and this is what I did.Cheers.
