OK, in a small home game last week it was heads-up on the river. First to act is counting out some chips, looks like he's deciding how much to bet. The other guy says "I call you all-in". I'm not sure if this means he will call if first-to-act shoves it in, or if it means if first-to-act checks he will put him all-in. The latter would constitute a bet out of turn and he'd be forced to abide by it. What about the former? That is, what happens if you call out of turn?In any case we let it slide because it was just a friendly game.

Ive usually found when people say that they mean they want to put the other person all in. If in a home game you are not using the bet out of turn must check etc rules, then i guess its just some extra info for the person actually first to act.

Contributors to this thread might be confusing TDA or tournament rules with those to be used in cash games. Try this as a fun little experiment: Next time you're at Crown in a cash game, before it's your turn to speak, say "I'm all-in!" - after it's been checked around to you, just say "Check". This will be perfectly legal in a cash game.Of course, this situation is not ideal, as it lends itself to angle shooting.Every poker table should have some line around it a few inches from the edge, with chips staying behind the line. If chips are moved past that line, it's a bet. yoyo
